Writing Prompts

This week’s writing prompt is:

NEW BEGINNINGS

Spring is known as the season of new beginnings, where the natural word rejuvenates and revives, but what else could be a new beginning? Perhaps a relationship has come to an end and there’s the need for a fresh start. Or maybe someone has done something wrong and wants to make amends. The new beginning could relate to a job, a house move or trying a new hobby.

Last week, your prompt was:

FLOWERS IN BLOOM

You don’t have to share your work, but I’d love to see what you come up with if the prompt gives you an idea. Here are a couple of lovely pieces on last week’s prompt:

Kim Smyth:

The other day we were flying by
I captured the sight of bright red with my eye
First I thought is was berries bright
But it was blooming flowers, to my delight!

Christine Mallaband-brown:

I visited Rode Hall in Staffordshire this weekend to see flowers in bloom. It was the annual Snowdrop Walk. It’s about a mile of paths around gardens and woods and along to a lake where thousands of Snowdrops of various species are in flower at this time of year.

We had to book a time slot to get a parking space because the ground is saturated after a very wet winter and there would not be enough space in the car park otherwise. My friend and I had a lovely walk around the grounds. We were a bit disappointed because a lot of the snowdrops have already gone over (finished flowering), but there were other flowers in bloom including daffodils, helibores, cyclamen, camelia, and other flowers and shrubs. Flowers are blooming and spring is on its way!

Treehugger:

So much promise, so much to bring.

The enchantment of rebirth, The advent of spring.

The hedgerows in flower, the swallows that soar,

A carpet of bluebells on the forest floor.

A time to be happy, A time just to ponder.

A beautiful bounty of colour and wonder.

  1. New beginning?
    I hope so.
My life has changed in so many ways. I’m having to reassess what I can do, can afford, can maintain.
New beginnings means the garden is starting to flower, I hope to get outside and maybe paint if I feel up to it. I need help to keep the garden tidy.
My main wish is that my health improves and I can have some real new beginnings….

  2. New beginnings means a new camping spot soon! After Florida, we’ll go home to Texas and stay with my bro for a month, either rehab the bus, or trade it in for a fifth wheel and a truck. Then set our sights on Colorado for spring/simmer season!

It was over, she was free at last. Free from his clutches, his control, his coercive behaviour. There would be no more drunken rages, where she would be the target of his anger, no more black eyes, from ‘walking into a door’.

She’d been on her own before, she’d started over before, she could do it again.

That night she had the best night’s sleep she’d had in months.

    Tomorrow was a new beginning.

    Tomorrow she’d bury the body….
