My Weekly Writing Challenge

My daughter seems to have a knack for coming up with great words for my weekly writing challenge and for stimulating your creativity. She’s come up with another five for you:

  • maraca
  • flabbergasted
  • ventriloquist
  • pensive
  • Obama

So, you can add another five words to make this into a ten-word story challenge. Off you go!

Last week’s words were:

  • fedora
  • patagonia
  • pink
  • melancholy
  • pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis (apparently the longest word in the dictionary and it means a lung disease caused by inhalation of very fine silica or quartz dust!)

Here are the hilarious results:

Francesca Anibali was up first:

Patagonia was melancholy. Alice got a pink fedora and pneumoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.

Judith Westerfield had this to say about the challenge. Please take a look:

‘You’ll have to click on my link to read my story and see the picture of “Patagonia” aka Stroppy’:

Pollyesther couldn’t resist the challenge:

A pink fedora melancholy, remembering combatting my pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis in Patagonia.

Jane Basil loved this as all her entries show:

Melancholy in Pategonia
Pink fedora beside me,
Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis inside me

oh, melancholic Pategonia,
take my Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.
leave my pink fedora.

Pategonia
A pink melancholy sky
A fedora
Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis in disguise

Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis killed Pategonia
a melancholy pink fedora floats
earthbound

Melissa Barker Simpson sent in this gem:

‘Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis?’ What? Patagonia removed her pink fedora. Overwhelmed with melancholy.

Sandra Conner turned hers into a news story, complete with headline:

TRAGEDY IN THE NEWS

Infected pink fedoras in Patagonia led to melancholy and Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis

Sacha Black‘s story was very witty:

“Melancholy?” Fedora asked. “Much worse dear. Patagonia has pink pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.”

  1. Obama LOL. how controversial can I make it? :p

Obama’s not pensive, just a flabbergasted ventriloquist shaking a maraca.

  4. This weeks challenge is even better than last weeks. I’ve limited it to 3 this time – tell me if I’m being greedy. I’ve categorised them.
    Dialogue:
    “Why so pensive, Obama?”
“The ventroquist stole my maraca. Flabbergasted!”
    Story
Obama ducked, flabbergasted. The ventriloquist, pensive, retrieved the maraca.
    Poem
Pensive, Obama the ventriloquist plays maraca.
    Flabbergasted, his subjects stare.
