Can You Tell A Story In…

Here’s your new story challenge. Can you tell a story in 70 words using the following words in it somewhere:

  • PRISONER
  • MARATHON
  • BAT
  • CHERRY
  • NOSE
  • CARRIAGE
  • RIBBON

The previous challenge was to write a story in 41 words using the following four words in it somewhere:

  • HOTEL
  • SHEPHERD
  • TRAPEZE
  • CHEESE

Here are your entertaining stories:

Therapy Bits:

At a mysterious hotel, a shepherd discovered a magical trapeze made of cheese. He swung across the moonlit sky, chasing his runaway sheep. Suddenly, the trapeze snapped! Luckily, he landed on a giant marshmallow, where his sheep were waiting patiently.

Susan Batten:

When I went for the trapeze job interview at the Bates Hotel yesterday, they gave me a complimentary cheese sandwich while I waited along with a reeking old shepherd. He said he had no experience either, but was a born optimist.

A Jeanne in the Kitchen:

I was tripping hard on something. While staying at the hotel, I was flying on the trapeze but fell from the sky onto a big pile of cheese. I was helped up by a shepherd and his flock.

Fandango:

The traveling circus stayed at the Grand Hotel outside the city. At night, a German shepherd stood guard at the big tent as a daring performer practiced on a trapeze, gracefully swinging above a table piled high with crackers and cheese.

poetisinta:

Baa’d Manners

At the Trapeze Hotel a shepherd stayed,

Although his sheep hadn’t paid,

They took some cheese –

Didn’t say please,

The manager cried, ‘This won’t do!’

The sheep giggled, ‘Baa-Boohoo!’

The bill arrived the shepherd fled,

The sheep paid up and went to bed!

Aptivi’s Joyful Corner:

Cheese in the Barn

As a man was about to leave the hotel, he saw a flock of sheep and a shepherd in a barn. The shepherd tried to grab a cheese from the trapeze, but it was higher. The man helped him grab it.

PatC44’s Blog:

Mr Shepherd brought his fresh milk to the hotel kitchen. The chef there had set up an innovative way to make cheese using a trapeze swing. They called it ‘The highly strung cheese from the lowlands’.

Dawgy Daddy Responds:

If you get the chance to catch the show at the Shepherd Hotel in Windsor, UK, do so without hesitation. The finale is a pair of sea lions on a trapeze above three cod flopping on a trampoline made of cheese.

Crystal:

I was always thought of as a lowly shepherd even though I stayed in 5 star hotel watched men and women playing with dogs and cats on the trapeze and this was only one of the entertainments my husband and I enjoyed while we ate pepperoni pizza with extra cheese knowing I could do acrobatics with cats and dogs on that trapeze.

The Afterlove Voice:

The 5-Star Disaster

The shepherd checked into a luxury hotel with twelve sheep.

“Pets aren’t allowed!” shouted the manager.

“They’re performers,” he replied.

Minutes later, sheep were swinging from the trapeze, showering guests with cheese.

The manager fainted.

The shepherd smiled.

“Wait until you see the goats!”

Rall:

the shepherd

watched his flock

by night

he had never heard

of cheese or a trapeze

or a hotel

he knew of an inn and a stable

a silent night

a holy night

and heavenly peace

Sillyfrog’s Blog:

Playing With Fire

Thinking themselves smugly clever, some college students put on “The Christmas Story” at an abandoned hotel Booze-N-Cheese party. A shepherd swung from a trapeze while angels rode around on demons.
Miraculously, everyone escaped when the building spontaneously burned to the ground.

Pensitivity101:

The hotel was closed, but the German shepherd wasn’t going to let that stop him.

A kid’s trapeze on the back porch was enough to get him into the kitchen where he opened the fridge and helped himself to some cheese.

John W. Howell:

The shepherd arrived at the hotel with an order of sheep’s milk cheese. A guest, a trapeze artist, wanted some on toast. He took a bite and looked for someone to shear his hair.

Dan Ince:

The Shepherd’s Side Hustle

The Shepherd wanted to try something new before he retired. He made big wheels of cheese in France and even toured with the circus as a trapeze artist. In the end, he settled on starting a hotel for retired sheep dogs.

Murray Clarke:

A threatening storm was on the distant horizon. The shepherd abandoned his flock of sheep on the hillside and sought shelter in a nearby hotel. After ordering a cheese sandwich with chutney, he sat down and struck up a conversation with a retired trapeze artist suspended upside down from the ceiling above the bar.

Richmond Road:

Oh my God! What is that smell?
That drifts from yonder there hotel?
And shepherds me with fragrant ease
Towards the source of smelly cheese?
(I know trapeze, with cheese doth rhyme
but doing so would be a crime)
Likewise limburger.

Wilf Leahy:

Bill had won the best shepherd competition: a stay in a hotel and a trip to the circus where he sat eating a cheese sandwich and watching the trapeze act.

Graeme Sandford:

The old German was a shepherd, not a trapeze-artist, and he said so.

However, they made him walk the tightrope, and then swing through the air.

It was their hard cheese that he managed to land on a hot elephant!

Teleportingweena:

A hotel employee shepherded the incoming guests to their rooms. He always hoped for a tip for this service. Trapeze artists from the traveling circus were the worst, though. They just smiled and cut the cheese! Phew! Give me a break!

Lou By The Sea:

The hotel *hosted the *Cheese Festival – A winter event to draw in custom. A great success, in part due to the evening entertainment called The Shepherd Trapeze Artist. The normal trapeze routine except the shepherd hung from his crook…literally. Oh dear…

Lily’s Corner:

Festival

It was time to leave for The Big Cheese Festival with a trapeze artist performing at the Imperial Whim Hotel. I patted my amazing German Shepherd; “Don’t wait up for me.”

I arrived in style with my pastel yellow polka-dotted dress.

The Bag Lady:

The trapeze above the bed was just a tease for Jim Shepherd. He could do a backflip, grab the cheese prize and be fast asleep, prone on the pillows in two seconds flat. The hotel staff had timed him 41 times.

Ann Edall-Robson:

The converted barn behind the Shepherd Hotel was renowned for its diverse theatrical performances. From big band musicals to daring trapeze acts, people came to enjoy the entertainment while nibbling on the local cheese and treats from the complimentary charcuterie board.

The Elephant’s Trunk:

How Cheesy!

Inside the lobby of the grand hotel, a shepherd balanced a wedge of cheese on his palm. Suddenly, a cunning acrobat on a high trapeze snatched the snack mid-air and gave a wink. The bewildered shepherd mumbled “Hope she’s lactose intolerant.”

Carpetboots:

Another uninvited guest had vanished. Emma opened the hotel with its cheese buffet before waiting like a watchful shepherd. Finally, the trapeze artist appeared, giving an amazing performance before safely checking in. Check out followed as Emma released the mouse outside.

    Hello again Esther,

Here’s your “story in…” for this week:

Top security prisoner, Alfie Jowly, is in training for the New York Marathon – virtual version. Here he is, in his cherry-red jumpsuit, out to claim a ribbon as a prizewinner and enjoy riding round Central Park with the mayor in the municipal carriage. We hope that his swollen nose, from an accident with a brickbat, goes down in good time for the celebratory photos. We wish you good luck, Alfie!

    Have a good weekend!

  4. It was Cherry Nose Day at the Old Bath Biddies Club. Belinda’s gang stuck large plastic cherry noses on before climbing into a horse-drawn carriage. Excited, they arrived in style at the Vampire Bat pub, tied the landlord to a chair with ribbons and held everyone prisoner in an unplanned lock-in, until their marathon quiz had finished, and they’d raised £500. OBBC membership has now risen from four to twenty.
