Guest Writer Spot

If you’d like to be included in this slot, please get in touch: estherchilton@gmail.com. Poems can be up to 60 lines and prose 2000 words. If you’d like to add a short bio and photo, then great. All I ask is that there’s nothing offensive.

You may be wondering why a) I’m posting my Guest Writer Spot on a Saturday and b) I’ve already had a guest writer this week and am now featuring another. Well, the answer is – why not?!

Many of you know Matt Snyder from his entertaining blog iMcreative. Today, he’s written a poem expressing his feelings on an important upcoming event.

No Time For Apathy

Republicans are red
Democrats are blue
If you sit this one out
Then America is screwed
Yes, the system sucks
I do agree
But this Administration continues to make life worse
& Americans may no longer live in the land of the free
But you argue
The country has AlWAYS sucked
That politicians on both sides
are all corrupt
Yes, for centuries we have been ripe with scandal
Mostly old rich white men
Who continue to urge us to divide and manhandle

Mostly I say because
The man elected in 2008
was just as rich, but far more great

Money runs
The corruption machine
And it especially runs deep within the regime

But if you sit this one out
And in your heart you hate this brand of red
Then I blame you for a forever dread

  5. Humph. I switched officially to Democrat back in 2016! Didn’t help then… but I completely agree. I’m voting.
