If you’d like to be included in this slot, please get in touch: estherchilton@gmail.com. Poems can be up to 60 lines and prose 2000 words. If you’d like to add a short bio and photo, then great. All I ask is that there’s nothing offensive.

I have another newbie to my Guest Writer Spot this week. Please welcome Aptivi. Many of you will know Aptivi’s great work on his blog: Aptivi’s Joyful Corner. Do head over for a read if you haven’t already. Today, he shares a beautiful poem.

The Beginning of Autumn

By

Aptivi

We were surviving summer heat
during clear and humid afternoons.
No drops of rain come down to greet
our grounds through the scorching noons.
As intense summer heat says goodbye
cold breeze and gold light fill the air.
Autumn slowly settles in the sky
as yellow tree leaves glow with a flare.
Canopies shake as breeze blows
leaves from tree branches drop quietly.
Autumn colors fill leaves of willows
the foliage turns orange slowly.
Lonely footsteps over the leaves
drifting across the long pathway.
Hissing sounds echo as wind thrives
while autumn walks with us along the way.
