This Friday’s guest is someone new to my Guest Writer Spot. Please welcome John D. Ottini. He’s got a book of poems coming out in November. Here’s one from his collection:
Passing The Time
by
John D. Ottini
Strolling through the graveyard on a cloudless afternoon, I ponder on the circumstances that bring me to this place. Kyrie, eleison.
The tombstones lead me down, a well-worn twisted path, like monuments between two points, measuring years left in the past. Christe, eleison.
The names and dates are etched in rock, voices muted in silent laughter. Souls basking in a world of peace, but awaiting what comes after. Kyrie, eleison.
I should feel sadness and yet I don't. Questions nag at me. Are they really gone for eternity, or just playing hide and seek? Christe, eleison.
I call the names of those long gone, and listen for their reply. Is it my ears or my imagination, I hear hello, but not goodbye. Kyrie, eleison.
The wings that flutter overhead, make me think perhaps I'm dreaming. I hear the choir and the screams, of angels and of demons. Christe, eleison. *** If you enjoyed that, you can find John's books on Amazon here Or Facebook here ***
