Laughing Along With A Limerick

I hope you had a great weekend. Here’s a new limerick challenge for you. Your word this week is

FRY

The previous word was TASK. Here are your limericks:

Nicola Daly:

On the sunlit upland I’d prefer to bask
And sip g and t from my fancy hip flask
Instead my master, the Dragon Lord
Has asked me to count his treasured hoard
And that – believe me – is a never-ending task!

Rall:

she hates wearing a mask
it’s become an awful task
better than catching the plague
losing your wits and going vague
life’s turned into a farce

Aptivi’s Joyful Corner:

Rat vs. Router

a rat’s task was to eat the cable
then find a way inside the table
we saw the rat seek
so it played hide and seek
now our router has become unstable

Sillyfrog’s Blog:

Fun

There’s an unpleasant task I avoid getting done.
Actually, there are a few more than just one.
My internal debate,
Says procrastinate.
To me, the wonder and wait is more fun.

Dawgy Daddy Responds:

Every week Esther posts a prompt that asks
If we think we are up for a challenging task
Reading all of the answers leave me grinning
Trying to write one my head starts spinning
When it is all said and done I sit back and relax

Graeme Sandford:

A-tisket, a-tasket, I dropped my brown/yellow basket;
it might have been hurt; but I never even asked it;
it’s handle was broken,
and in a voice softly-spoken,
It asked, “Have you ever bought a new casket?”

Frank Hubeny:

Wonderful Task

Oh, the task that I got that fine day
was so wonderful all I could say,
“Is this really for me?”
Yes it is! Now, we’ll see
if you’ll do it or go off and play.

Susan Batten:

The task for today wasn’t clear.
It would wobble – and then disappear,
so this wavering task
 in its shimmering mask
could be safely ignored, never fear.

Dan Ince:

Messy Dog

I’m sorry and hate to bug
But your dog has soiled the rug
So go grab a mask
Do the grisly task
And clean up after your pug!

Murray Clarke:

You may ask why Napoleon gave his first wife, Josephine, a basque.
Trying to put the damn thing on was an arduous task!
She tugged and she pulled it in all directions,
She puffed and she huffed, and made some corrections.
Finally, she ended up drinking Napoleon brandy from her jewel-encrusted flask.

The Limerick Guy:

If the Law of Averages holds true,
I have lots of playing catch up to do.
It’s quite a lot to ask
But I am up to the task…
Because I really love to screw!!!

Pictures Imperfect Blog:

The One About The Forced Disguise

There once was a man who liked to bask
In the sun and didn’t attend to his given task
To guard the money of Scarface Capone.
Next thing he knew it was all gone.
Now he only leaves home with a mask.

Fandango:

The Bored Bot

There once was a bot with no task
Who thought, “Should I nap? Should I bask?”
Then someone said “write!”
And the bot said “alright”
He wrote a limerick about wearing a mask

Lisa A Paul:

I don’t miss the days of the mask
To be donned before starting a task
Now my whole face is free
For the whole world to see
But if you want me to hide it, just ask.

The Afterlove Voice:

There once was a woman with a task,
Who sighed, “Is one quiet day too much to ask?”
She ticked off her list,
Then another appeared—twist!
So she put on her “I’m busy” mask!

Cathy Cade:

Blow It All

Tasked with inflating balloons,
I expected to finish soon.
But, sure enough,
I ran out of puff
and was gasping all afternoon.

John W. Howell:

In the sun he loves to bask,
For help, don’t even ask,
He’s a man who’s not crazy,
Just a whole heap of lazy,
As for eating, he’s up to the task.

Pensitivity101:

He looked at the task in hand,
Something he didn’t understand,
But she wanted it done
Said it would be fun,
Though it wasn’t quite what he’d planned.

He set to with hammer and nails,
Swore at the wonky rails,
Got the decking just right
Connected the night light
Then settled to look over the dales.

Lou by the Sea:

Joe the handyman loved an usual task
A job came in, but big questions he must not ask
So he stole a tank
And bashed into the bank
Now, with his cut, happy in the sun he will bask

Kim Smyth:

Mondays are full of tasks to do
Window washing, laundry too
Supper to cook
No time for a book
And an errand to run, boo Hoo!

poetisinta:

King Jack

My tomcat is named Jolly Jack,
Whose naughty ways never hold back,
His task is quite clear –
‘Bring me treats, servant dear!
Or that daft god of yours I’ll attack!’

Now Jack is certainly not shy,
He demands attention, brings a tear to my eye,
With a purr and a stare,
He rules the roost from his chair –
‘Treat me like royalty, or else – it’s goodbye!’

Teleportingweena:

When Wonky Walrus got done with basking
He figured he should get on with tasking
But doing a chore
Was such a bore
He’d just wait ’till someone else did the asking

Putting on his eye mask
Wonky began again to bask
Wonky Walrus applied sun screen
Both nice smelling lotion and a cream
When someone came by to give him a task

Oh no said Wonky, I’m too tired to task
That what you request is too big an ask
The person rolled their eyes
And gave some big sighs
As Wonky just smiled and grabbed his flask

Treehugger:

When my mother gave me a task
I looked at her aghast.
To clean out the grate,
Was a job that I hate.
I’d planned to visit the beach and bask.

Annette Rochelle Aben:

Waisted Effort

Charged with but one task
To hide the forbidden hip flask
Alas, she got caught
For hips, she had not
Her shame she could not mask

The Elephant’s Trunk:

All In A Day’s Work

An inebriated fellow named Trask
Drank a bottle of wine from a flask
It ran down his chin
Dribbled onto his shin
And he sang “I’ve completed my task”

John McGuiggan:

As you do

I put the task in my to-do list,
as you do.
And I put my to-do list in my calendar,
as you do.
I told my calendar to remind me an hour before the task was due,
as you do.
And I sent an email to myself to remind me to check my calendar and check my list to do,
as you do.
When asked
if I had completed the task,
I had to admit
I had forgotten it,
as you do.

Olaf Sturlasson’s Poetry Corner:

A young man who was taken to task
For wearing a hideous mask
Said I can’t replace
My natural face
How about you; I just have to ask

The Bag Lady
:

Joe had to attempt the hard task
Robbing a bank wearing a mask
The game prize was not money
But a date with his honey
The end result? Don’t even ask!

Therapy Bits:

There once was a fellow named Jack,
Who fled every troublesome task.
When asked, “Is it done?”
He replied, “Nearly, hon!”
Then hid in a filing-cabinet mask.

iMartist:

Incompetence

It was such a simple task
But Barry needed a gulp from his flask
Sometimes it’s what you got to do
When you’re an adult and you don’t know two times two
Yet, Barry got the job teaching Maths from wearing an alcohol fueled competent mask

Dog Paddling Through Life:

As I checked off tasks from my list
I noticed a big one I’d missed
gave my brush a tap
cats jumped in my lap
for care from their feline stylist

Mark Fraidenburg
:

There once was our buddy named Freddie,
Whose movements were rarely quite steady.
He was quite the galoot,
In his three-piece suit,
but his task was complete, before ready!

Sexagenarian Scribbler:
It should be a challenge not a chore
To be frank, it’s becoming a bore
This task is too taxing
The whole thing needs axing
I don’t want to do it any more!

Blind Wilderness:

A vicar engaged in a task
Drank some gin from a flask
He wobbled about
Then started to shout
And then in his sin he did bask

But now I look out for number one
This year no tan was had

Truth is, the Fall’s just begun.

      1. I didn’t get to at all this year! No pool, no beach, and only sitting outside for a few minutes daily with the dogs. I’m probably better off for it though!

  2. My doctor says I mustn’t fry
I raise my eyes up to the sky
    It’s ok to boil
    Dry bake – or broil
    That’s his advice on suntan oil!… 😂Suzanne

Are bad for the figure – oh my!

Fish’n’chips in the sweet by and by.

    Ode to a Hungry Hound:

So I’ve put the bacon in the pan to fry
And you happen to wake up, and thought you’d say ‘hi’?
    Stop sniffing the floor
    It won’t get you more
You know I won’t ignore your pleading eyes and heartfelt sigh.

    Hello Esther,

    Here’s today’s limerick:

Go out in the garden – you’ll fry! Sit tight in the house – you’ll just die! We’re assailed by the weather and don’t know quite whether the air con’s still working on “high”.

    Have a good week, everyone!

  10. Frying Up Some Verse

You’re awake? I will fry up some verse
with our breakfast all yummy and terse.
We will start this day right
    since it’s no longer night
and delight that my rhyme can’t get worse.

  12. Tell me if this isn’t true. You hit the drive thru at a fast-food place, order a combo meal, pull up to the window, cop your bag of food and before you hit the street, you are stuffing French fries in your mouth.

When you pull away from a fast food window,There’s something you’ll soon happily know –From that first hot crisp biteThat always tastes right…The French Fry is the star of your combo!

    Don’t try this at home

There was a church warden called Old Mrs Spry

Breakfast lunch and tea in her pan she did fry

    She defied her GP

    “My life belongs to me”

Even when 90 and refusing to die

  17. The tastiest way to cook, is to fry

All the food that I love, I won’t lie.

    My favourite is chicken,

    Scrumptious and finger licking.

Alas, I have to kiss my waist goodbye.
