Can You Tell A Story In…

Here’s your new story challenge. A short one this week – can you tell a story in 32 words using the following words in it somewhere:

  • JUNGLE
  • RISSOTTO
  • WALRUS

The previous challenge was to write a story in 60 words using the following six words in it somewhere:

  • COW
  • SARONG
  • GRAPEFRUIT
  • HOBBY
  • WHEELBARROW
  • ALPHABET

Here are your hilarious stories:

A Jeanne in the Kitchen:

As I was adjusting my sarong, and working at my new hobby of learning the Indian alphabet, I saw a cow pulling a wheelbarrow filled with grapefruit. I guess she was off to the market to sell her goods.

Lou By The Sea:

My Hero Cow

Alphabet gardening is my new hobby. This year it’s G – grapes, guava, ginger and grapefruit. Loading up my wheelbarrow, my sarong got caught and I fell into the watery ditch head first. If not for my trusty cow hauling me out I’d never reach the year for Z in 18 years time!

Sillyfrog’s Blog:

Honest Advertising

My mirror reflection was blunt.

“You’re still a COW!”

The wheelbarrow of grapefruit I’d consumed had made no difference.

Dieting wasn’t meant to be a hobby, so I’d diligently researched online. There was an alphabet of so-called “proven” approaches to choose from.

I now realize those persistent popups ads for sarongs were actually a warning about the honest success rate.

poetisinta:

The Cow Who Love Her ABCs

A cow in a yellow sarong,

Sang a loud mooing song,

And from a wheelbarrow just for fun,

She juggled graoefruit under the sun,

Her hobby? Alphabetical cheer:

Reciting letters far and near.

‘B comes before C, don’t you know?’

As she danced with D’s and E’s in a row,’

Then the alphabet flew through the air,

And she sighed, ‘What a splendid affair!’

Aptivi’s Joyful Corner:

The Citrus Farm

A man wearing sarong clothing spotted a cow somewhere in a farm while he was walking along with his wheelbarrow. The cow also had a clothing in its hip full of alphabet woven into it. Next to the cow was a tree full of ripe grapefruits. Collecting fruits was his hobby, and he took grapefruits to take them back home.

Kim Smyth:

Sally’s new hobby was filling a wheelbarrow with grapefruit while singing the alphabet.

As she did this one autumn day, she looked at the cows parading out of the barn and one was wearing a sarong! As she was to ‘S’ in her song, instead of finishing the alphabet, the next words were “sarongs on a cow look crazy to me!”

Graeme Sandford:

Alphabetically…

Baby Cow Decided Every Fifth Grapefruit Hobby Installs Jubilation.

‘Kernow Liaisons’ Manifested Nineteen Ornate Peruvian – Quality! – Ritu Sarongs.

Transportation  – Using Various Wheelbarrows (Xanthic – Yellowish) – Zen.

NB I had to do this in 60 words. Having written it Alphabetically, I thought that I might be a few short. My words counted … 26!

Murray Clarke:

“Old Ted – whose hobby was gardening – was wearing his colourful sarong as he pushed a wheelbarrow-full of cow dung towards his vegetable patch. There, he was surprised to find a grapefruit that had fallen from a nearby tree.

Crystal:

I was wearing a sarong and saying the alphabet in Spanish while eating a grapefruit for breakfast then I rode on my hobby horse then afterwards I got my wheelbarrow and took it to the cow field and did some cow tipping.

The Afterlove Voice:

Her unusual hobby was teaching the alphabet to a stubborn cow. Wearing a purple sarong, she sat beside a wheelbarrow filled with books and grapefruit. By lunchtime, the cow had mastered A, B, and C, then ate the lesson sheet. She sighed, peeled a grapefruit, and decided tomorrow they would try numbers instead. Surely cows couldn’t eat mathematics too.

Rall:

Wearing sarongs was her regular attire

very few washing days

more time for hobbies

a cow and linguistics

she spoke four languages

didnt know the alphabet in any

the cow ate grapfruit

played with a wheelbarrow

all day long

Pensitivity101:

Farmer Bellows hobby was winemaking, but his wife said it would be the death of him as it was too strong.

With a wheelbarrow of grapefruit, he began the process and as it fermented, knew he’d have to quit  when he saw his best cow wearing a sarong decorated with letters of the alphabet giving him a come hither smile!

Susan Batten:

You can bring me a wheelbarrow full of ripe grapefruit – I still don’t like them! Yes, I’m in a bad mood. The bloody cow got into the backyard and ate my favourite sarong – right off the washing line! I called her every name in the alphabet – but look, I can’t stand here gassing. Fruit farming isn’t a hobby, you know.

John W. Howell:

My hobby is cow tipping which is hauling a cow in a wheelborrow for a 10K run. Halfway into the last race a fan gave me a grapefruit and her sarong instead of water. My mind’s alphabet search could only come up with three letters to cover the situation. WTF?

Dan Ince:

Chewing The Cud

Enid the Cow lounged in her pink, elegant sarong while supping on grapefruit juice through a straw, casting her eye across the applicants. To test their worthiness, she would make prospective members balance on the wheel of an upturned wheelbarrow while reciting the alphabet. Backwards.

While recruitment was ultimately the aim, antagonising the applicants was something of a hobby.

John D. Ottini:

Last night I had a crazy dream. I dreamt that I saw a cow wearing a sarong pushing a wheelbarrow filled with grapefruit. If that wasn’t nutty enough  she was also reciting the alphabet.  I asked her how this was possible? She replied, ” Just a hobby I picked up on the farm.”

No more pizza after 10 pm. for me!

Mark Fraidenburg:

The Manifest

The door gave, exhaling cold and diesel.

Inside, arranged like a nursery display: a child’s wheelbarrow, alphabet blocks spelling HELENN, a plastic cow on its side. Half a grapefruit, rind blackened. Draped over all of it, a woman’s sarong, sun-faded, wrong for this cold.

Tucked beneath: a card. “Call it a hobby, Helen.”

Torres didn’t move. Somewhere close, water dripped.

Fandango:

Sipping grapefruit juice, Brenda embraced her hobby: transporting farm supplies to local farmers in a wheelbarrow. Wearing a vibrant batik sarong, she hummed the alphabet song to soothe her prize cow, Daisy.

Daisy followed Brenda everywhere she went, peacefully chewing her cud as they ambled together toward a freshly painted barn.

Brenda, her wheelbarrow, and her cow: quite a sight.

Teleportingweena:

My husband’s hobby was wheelbarrow racing, Rules said there should be someone sitting in it. That would be me, his wife. So putting on my comfortable sarong I grabbed my grapefruit juice, and hopped in. I couldn’t stop laughing at the other contestants. One had a cow sitting up in there, another was singing the alphabet song as he ran.

Dawgy Daddy Responds:

Feisty Freddie ate his grapefruit and alphabet soup for breakfast. He knew he would catch flack if anyone saw him bringing cow dung home by the wheelbarrow load wearing his new plaid sarong, he didn’t care as he had a fierce desire to start his hobby of growing magical mushrooms. Freddie finished breakfast and ate two psychedelic buttons for dessert.

Richmond Road:

Hippie girlfriend sings a song
Adorned in nought but a sarong
Dines on grapefruit, won’t eat cow
Puts on weight. I don’t know how
She writes poetry, and yet
She barely knows the alphabet
Her hobby is to make men swoon
I do that every afternoon
And so I’m on the straight and narrow
She drives me like a wheelbarrow

Lily’s Corner:

Art

Suzy was working on her final art project and decided to go country creative. She carefully started off painting a cow in a blue sarong holding a grapefruit up in the air for a dramatic flair while lying in a wheelbarrow full of beautiful flowers. She was quite enjoying her new hobby while reciting the alphabet to help her concentrate.

L Wie:

Farm Talk

“He can fart the alphabet!,” the cow  told her neighbour on the meadow when the farmer’s son went by, pushing a wheelbarrow full of dung, accompanied by his ‘city girlfriend’, who was wearing an orange sarong and eating a grapefruit.

It was cow Miranda’s hobby to find out humans’ secret strengths.

“Wow!” the other cow mooed. “So, what’s an alphabet?”

Ann Edall-Robson:

At first, it was a hobby to fill the day after milking her cow named Sarong. It soon morphed into making a living selling preserves for every letter of the alphabet. Tomorrow, her stand at the local farmer’s market will showcase Grapefruit Jelly and Huckleberry Jam. The wheelbarrow filled with seasonal garden flower bouquets would round out this week’s products.

Yvensong:

A hobby of mine is visiting multidimensional universes. I’ve been to a few that fascinated me, but this one had them all beat.

I landed in a pasture. A cow, wearing a sarong, was chewing on grapefruit. Just as I portaled away, the cow began pushing a wheelbarrow toward me and I could swear I heard it reciting the alphabet.

The Elephant’s Trunk:

Valley Of Desolation

Fog clung to the rusted bridge as Carmen pushed the creaky wheelbarrow carrying grapefruit and a cryptic, blood-stained alphabet scroll. A mysterious cow watched from the murky mire, wearing a torn silk sarong like a shroud. Carmen’s bizarre hobby always left unsettling clues behind. Who was she hiding from in this desolate valley, and what dark secret did it hold?

Jason Moody:

Sarah spilt Alphabet Spaghetti on her sarong. ‘Holy cow’ she thought. I seem to make a hobby of it. Shouldn’t shove it in like I’m eating with a wheelbarrow she mused. And who eats spaghetti shapes at forty eight? Stick to a grapefruit.

  6. On safari and lost in the jungle we came upon a hut with a restaurant sign. The chef sporting a walrus mustache offered only snake risotto. We drank a lot of gin instead.

    1. You made me laugh. Very good, John. I’d be drinking gin too in that situation.
