Can You Tell A Story In…

This week, can you tell a story in 60 words using the following words in it somewhere:

  • COW
  • SARONG
  • GRAPEFRUIT
  • HOBBY
  • WHEELBARROW
  • ALPHABET

The previous challenge was to write a story in 49 words using the following five words in it somewhere:

  • DIET
  • WASP
  • XYLOPHONE
  • CHIVALRY
  • U-TURN

Here are your great stories:

Lou By The Sea:

BUZZ

Jam sandwiches: not on my diet sheet but convenient for the xylophone society picnic. A wasp, buzzed past, took a U-turn, then sat on the end of my nose. A man, attempting a newspaper swipe, gave me a nosebleed instead. “The age of chivalry is definitely dead,” I shouted.

Sillyfrog’s Blog:

Good Try

I’d consumed a lifetime diet of chivalry and was determined to never take a U-turn, so when a lady asked for help transporting her instrument, I volunteered.

It was a hefty xylophone!

But for a wasp crawling down my shirt at the 3rd floor landing, I may have succeeded.

poetisinta:

Sweet Revenge With A Spectacled Wasp

My diet was ruined by a wasp one day,

So I played my xylophone to chase him away,

With chivalry I bowed, saying, ‘Goodbye,’

Making a swift U-turn away from this guy,

The wasp wore spectacles looking a fright,

So I stuffed down three cakes just out of spite!

Aptivi’s Joyful Corner:

The Wasp

While I was trying to eat my diet food, there was a wasp that was in front of me all the time, so I decided to play a xylophone in all chivalry. It kindly made a U-turn and went out of my house from the modular window I opened.

Graeme Sandford:

Piano

“Who was Piano with last night?”

“Xylophone.”

“And…”

“And?”

“No use your chivalry here, we need to know.”.

“Oh. Piano was with a… percussion instrument.”

“The U-turnal Triangle?”

“You could say that.”

“Cowbell?”

“More or less.”

“More cowbell?”

“No, that won’t be necessary.”

“It very rarely is.”

“True.”

Murray Clarke:

I was hopelessly lost down a one-way street. “Make a u-turn,” advised the satnav. I had been drinking from a can of Diet Coke when a wasp flew out and stung me. A passing motorist, playing a xylophone, rudely shouted: “Can’t help you, mate!” The age of chivalry is dead!

Crystal:

I was playing my xylophone on my front porch when all of a sudden a swarm of wasps came flying at me and I quickly did a U-turn when I saw the swarm of wasps to try to get away but unfortunately I didn’t get away in time because I got stung like crazy. Some guy was walking by my house and he actually stopped to help me so chivalry isn’t dead. From then on my diet was gone because ever since I got stung with a swarm of wasps I’ve been eating everything in site especially most of the chocolate.

The Afterlove Voice:

The diet began Monday, but by Tuesday a wasp stole her lunch. She chased it past a street musician playing xylophone, where a gentleman, practising chivalry, offered assistance. Unfortunately, he ran straight into a fountain. She made a U-turn toward the café. Clearly, dieting could wait until Wednesday again.

Rall:

no u turn

back to the age of chivalry

not even the w a s pscan return

no more playing the dance

of the sugar plum fairy

on the xylophone for fun either

we now live

in a dog eat dog diet world

Pensitivity101:

Chloe’s xylophone lessons distracted her from the U-turns and compromises of the latest diet in her bid to lose weight. Fruit went out of the window when a wasp stung her lip, though the chivalry of the young man who came to her aid resulted in meeting her husband.

Susan Batten:

My Diet Coke nearly did a U-turn when they asked me to play the xylophone for the overture to F.O. Wasp’s famous work on medieval chivalry, The Languid Lover. After all, I was only the cleaner and had no more idea how to play it than you do.

John W. Howell:

The advertising agency presented a creative concept for our new diet cola. The video was backed with strange xylophone music and a new name. They called it Chivalry with a wasp as the spokesperson. We took a U-turn and fired them.

A Jeanne in the Kitchen:

My diet is playing tricks on me. Did I just see a wasp playing a xylophone? I had to do a U-turn to see for sure. I turned around so quickly, and stumbled to the ground. A nice chivalrous young man helped me get back on my feet.

my word(s):

“Chivalry is dead,” said Jane. She sounded like a wasp on a lemon juice diet playing a child’s xylophone.

“You might want to rethink that. Be like a politician and make a U-turn.” The man behind her held the door open, bowed and smiled. Jane scowled.

“Whatever.”

Dan Ince:

The year was 2093 and we were all starving. With a daily diet of scraps, ribs could be played as you might a xylophone. No u-turn for humanity now. Acts of chivalry were classed as weakness. A man even killed another man over a dead wasp to eat.

Richmond Road:

Playing on her Xylophone
She – looking kinda pretty
I was hungry – on a diet
Feeling kinda shitty
Hunger playing mind games
Like a wasp inside my head
But in the name of chivalry
Invited her to bed.

(But then took a u-turn
Went to the fridge instead)

iMartist:

Rosey & Davey’s First Date

Davey was playing W.A.S.P.’s “U-Turn” on the xylophone when Rosey showed up.

Davey said, “Care for a Smore ?” Rosey said, “I’m on a diet.”

Caught in a downpour, Davey offered his raincoat to Rosey. She thought to herself “A man full of chivalry, is a man worth keeping.”

Lily’s Corner:

Take It Or Leave It

Our ship’s cargo consisted of diet pop and wasp honey. The notification sounded above which, oddly enough, sounded like a xylophone to let us know we had docked.  Our sales motto was ‘Chivalry, take it or leave it’. Unfortunately, there were no buyers, so we made a hasty U-turn.

Pictures Imperfect Blog:

Taking Her Out To Dinner

The wasp’s diet consisted mainly of cakes, and chivalry meant I placed a small piece out for her. She immediately made a – pardon the pun – beeline for it, making a sharp U-turn pivoting her yellow and black gaster around. It looked like the bars of a two-tone xylophone.

Ann Edall-Robson:

A slow U-turn brought the welcoming vista into view. Chivalry toward the wasp community prevailed here. Drifting lower, mesmerized by aromas from the summer diet of people’s food and calming xylophone music, the surprising vision of a rolled up newspaper came too late. Wrong yard! Wrong deck! Abort! Aborrr…

The Bag Lady:

Son Joe was driving her crazy, pounding on his toy xylophone. Apparently household chivalry died some time last night. Henry was sweet then, but today he made a U-turn after the shower romance. This painful new diet may help she thought as she pressed the wasp onto her wrist.

The Elephant’s Trunk:

Bugger!

Desperate to lose weight, Bob started the Buzzing Wasp Diet. Realizing his terrible mistake, he played a frenetic xylophone solo, hoping the vibrations would attract the nasty bugger. Alas, chivalry died when he shoved his new date aside and executed a frantic U-turn straight to the nearest emergency room.

  1. As I was adjusting my sarong, and working at my new hobby of learning the Indian alphabet, I saw a cow pulling a wheelbarrow filled with grapefruit. I guess she was off to the market to sell her goods.
