Laughing Along With A Limerick

Happy new week. Here’s a new limerick challenge for you. Your word this week is

FIRST

The previous word was JOG. Here are your limericks:

K Morris Poet:

A young man whose name was Hogg
Was fond of a jolly good flog.
His girlfriend Miss Lou
Was fond of the shoe –
As for me, I like to jog …

Nicola Daly:

That gorgeous witch from Carlilse
Was planning on running a mile
When she went for her first jog
She got stuck in a bog
‘What’s the point?’ she said ‘if I can’t do it with style?’

Teleportingweena:

A dog and a frog sat on a log, contemplating what to do
Said frog to the dog, “I think we should start a blog, what say you?”
So after a short jog
They drank some grog
And wrote on their blog, of their friendship, true blue.

Graeme Sandford:

A dog and a hedgehog loved to jog;
one day they jogged into a bog;
the dog, it got out,
the hedgehog did shout,
“If you save me I’ll give you a snog!”

Frank Hubeny:

Jogging Limerick

In the bog there’s a frog who would jog.
In the fog there’s a dog who would hog
all the rhymes that I had
which at times made me sad
as I jog like a frog on my blog.

Susan Batten:

When Lucinda got fat as a hog,
she reluctantly started to jog.
She was dreadfully slow
and it caused her great woe,
so she wrote it all up on her blog.

Sillyfrog's Blog:

Seriously?

My friend thought if we went jogging, she’d get thin.
You must know she has a well-earned double chin.
She bought some special clothes
Seemed serious, I suppose,
Until she stopped for several donuts before we could begin.

Murray Clarke:

He sprawled across the sofa, sleeping like a log:
"Hey you! Get up at once and go out for a jog!
You'll feel so much better
And forever be my debtor"
So saying, I sat down and read Esther's latest blog!

Keith Edgar Channing:

It seems when I purpose to jog,
A dead horse I’m attempting to flog.
It’s like when I read Dickens,
The plot always thickens,
And methinks that the years do befog.

Kim Smyth:

I like to walk fast not jog
Especially if my head’s in a fog
It may keep me fit
No weight lost, not a bit
Maybe I should jump like a frog!

The Limerick Guy:

When I look in the mirror and see
An old bald man looking at me,
I don’t really care
That I’ve lost all my hair…
It jogs a sweet flowing mane memory.

Pictures Imperfect Blog:

The One About The Avid Athlete

A young man from France liked to go for a jog.
He ran every day, come rain, shine or fog.
He jogged through the ‘hood,
He jogged through the wood.
Until he stopped – ‘cause he’d met a hog.

Rall:

time for a jog
escape from the mob
need some space to think
quiet thoughts in pink
remove the brain fog

Fandango:

The Bay Jogger

There once was a guy with a blog
Whose favorite thing was to jog
He went down to the bay
Hoping for a beautiful day
But somehow got lost in thick fog

The Afterlove Voice:

I thought I might go for a jog,
Then spotted my chair and the dog.
I sat down instead,
With some coffee and bread—
And called it my fitness travelogue!

Cathy Cade:

Jogging Along With A Song

I’m walking my dogs… On our way
our choral group’s songs I replay.
Just singing a song
while we’re jogging along.
The park is all ours – every day.

Writer Ravenclaw:

Never Alone

A proud lady went for a jog
but found herself lost in the fog
she found her way home
and so she wasn’t alone
ate a doughnut the size of a cog.

Boomcha:

A Foggy Little Quiz

A student attempted to jog
Her memory through layers of fog.
She stared at the quiz,
Said, “Whose idea was this?”
Then laughed as she handed it back to the prof.

John W. Howell:

There once was a guy with a dog,
Who’s house was on stilts in a bog.
He kept gaining weight,
And his only complaint:
How does a bog help one jog.

Scrambled, Not Fried:

Try, Try Again

He jogged, delivering mail
(though his jog was as slow as a snail.)
His bosses were ired
until he was fired
and sought a new field to fail…

Pensitivity101:

He went out one morning for a jog
Then became lost in the fog
He felt comfort was at hand
Though not exactly as planned
As he came home with a leash and a dog.

Lou by the Sea:
Jog on

So I thought I’d get fit and go for a jog
The puddle I straddled turned into a bog
It sucked me right under
Then cold rain and thunder
My big idea made me all of a sog

poetisinta:

Tutu Much

There once was a bloke from LA,
Who tried to impress with ballet,
He slipped on his shoe,
And cried out ‘Booo-hoo!
Now – everyone jog on okay!’

The Bag Lady:

Joe loved to work out with a jog
But now he tripped over a log
He fell in the mud
Yelled out, “this is crud!”
Because he landed in a bog!

Pete Springer:

Melvin McCranie was all agog.
His excitement came from starting a blog.
His words were confusing at best,
By the next day he was completely depressed.
Now he feels sick as a dog.

John McGuiggan:

Keep Healthy – Don’t Jog

It’s the joggers who are always the first to die
Then the cyclists in lycra who ride side by side
And the gym junkies posing in mirrors and adoring their sweat
They’re well on their way to meet up with death
We shall survive them, both you and me
A bit overweight
and fond of our cakes
that we take with our tea
Let them ride and jog en route to their graves
we’ll see them all out to a riper old age

Rohini
:

The Jogger Of The Ridge

There once was a jogger named Midge
Who ran every day ‘cross the bridge,
Through rain and through shine,
She felt simply fine,
And jogged her way up to the ridge!

Treehugger:

While out in the air for a jog,
I got lost and fell into a bog.
As I cried in despair,
“It’s ruining my hair,”
I was saved by a man and his dog.

The Elephant’s Trunk:

Ribbit!

Fred’s memory started to clog
And he needed a good mental jog
So he poked at his brain
And screamed out in pain
When a thought jumped right out like a frog!

Olaf Sturlasson’s Poetry Corner:

A young woman who went for a jog
Encountered a thick bank of fog
As she turned around
She heard a frightening sound
The howl of a very small dog

Sexagenarian Scribbler:

Whilst out on our afternoon jog
We stopped on the heath for a snog
But proceedings adjourned
When the weather turned
And we found ourselves lost in the fog

Dawgy Daddy Responds:

A little exercise in describing just what’s going on
The fog in your mind is where it does not belong
Step outside into another cool morning breeze
Goosebumps forewarn you of winters little tease
As you jog into the fresh dawn wearing a thong

Today’s challenge is to exercise our twisted minds
To produce a limerick that sounds good in rhyme
I need more Starbucks to wake up, not an early jog
So I can start barking like your friendly Ernie Dawg
And combine these challenges one more time
