Laughing Along With A Limerick

I hope you all had a great weekend. Now it’s limerick time. Your word this week is

JOG

The previous word was EYES. Here are your limericks:

Nicola Daly:

I just couldn’t believe my eyes!
Seeing a hippopotomus who flies!
But he made a horrible splat!
When he landed without a crash mat
And now we all know a hippo who flies isn’t wise!

Teleportingweena:

For a party I went in disguise
I made my thighs larger is size
Along with my hips
And big pouty lips
No one could believe their eyes

Graeme Sandford:

The eyes are the window to the soul,
they can tell you what it means to be whole,
when they are shut,
the connection is cut,
and understanding is put on the dole.

Richmond Road:

We finally said our goodbyes
I’d no more rest my head ‘tween her thighs
And forever I’d miss
The taste of her lips
And the secrets she hid with her eyes

Gently she looked in my eyes
As she buried the last of my lies
She would take it no more
So she turned for the door
Gently whispered her final goodbyes

Ruth Blogs Here:

Memories

My dad’s eyes were a piercing ice blue
With a mischievous twinkle, it’s true
Through dementia he lost
Memories at great cost
And his eyes lost their bright sparkle, too

Been some time since we lost him, so sad
My adorable fun-loving dad
But my love lives on yet
Hope I’ll never forget
All those wonderful years that we had

Frank Hubeny:

Eyes Eying Eyes

While my eyes were out eying your eyes
with deep heartbeats and longings and sighs
in your eyes I did see
a reflection of me
eying me eying you with surprise.

Susan Batten:

Little Linda looked round her, all eyes,
at the sweets and the cool apple pies.
Then she tucked into some –
which was bad for her tum –
for she ate a lot more than was wise.

Sillyfrog's Blog:

Dominion Of Truth

James was taught to trust his own eyes.
Not to count on what others’ apprise.
Tech’s advancement posthaste,
Laid his practice to waste.
Since the dominion of “Truth” is now clearly AI’s.

Murray Clarke:

"The Eyes to the right; the Nose to the left!" cries the Speaker.
Esther Chilton looks stunned. It makes her feel weaker.
"You can't say that - the spelling's all wrong!
With that I simply can't go along.
Back to the drawing board - you need a new teacher!"

Keith Edgar Channing:

I need a word rhyming with eyes,
Like fries, thighs or even mince pies.
Try spies in a bush
Or lies, at a push.
But I did it; ain’t that a surprise!

Kim Smyth:

He walked in the club and our eyes did meet
He looked like my ex from Colorado, what a feat!
But he had my heart
We’ve never been apart
Not bad for a meeting at a club known as “market of meat.”

The Limerick Guy:

I write this with tears in my eyes,
Hate everywhere is on the rise
What’s mankind coming to?
Is there nothing we can do
Before it causes our apocalyptic demise?

Pictures Imperfect Blog:

The One About Unrequited Love

Cordelia fell in love with the lord of the manor.
She was introduced and dropped this clanger:
“I looks in your eyes
And I promptly cries.”
He rejected her on account of her grammar.

Rall:

he had such beautiful eyes
so warm and wonderfully wise
he was taken already
by a cute girl called eddy
time to find another prize

The Afterlove Voice:

There once was a lady whose eyes,
Could spot all the nonsense and lies.
She’d raise one eyebrow,
And mutter, “Oh, wow…
”While silently judging the wise!

Cathy Cade:

The Eyes Have It

The eyes have it! A word to the wise:
look no further than into his eyes.
If they’re open too wide,
then he’s probably lied.
Let this knowledge inform your replies.

Fandango:

There once was a lass with bright eyes
That sparkled like stars in the skies
With one little glance
She’d capture romance
And leave all the men hypnotized

Cee Tee Jackson:

A Cloud Has Lifted

It’s true of this morning, I promise it’s fact,
The hospital removed my left cataract.
So what a surprise
Today’s word is ‘eyes,’
Think of the odds I could have got on that?!

Writer Ravenclaw:

With a perfect pair of cat’s eyes
Sarah drove down the road and realised
without all the lights
with the kerb she would fight
and her car would be in disguise.

Boomcha:

Cat Logic, Told In A Limerick

A woman rolled her eyes at the sight
Of a cat who’d been up half the night.
He’d shredded her chair
With a look of “don’t care,”
Then curled up, pretending he’d been polite.

John W. Howell:

There once was a man from Van Nuys.
Who made the best pizza pies.
He took great care,
While the dough’s in the air,
To make sure and not divert his eyes

Pensitivity101:

The glasses framed his eyes
Making them look bigger and wise,
He spoke with wisdom and care
To everyone gathered there
So they wouldn’t be served up with fries.

Lou by the Sea:

Are you lonesome tonight?

Elvis was a lover boy- he smiled with his eyes
It brought on hysteria and plenty of cries
Everyone loved him
And felt full of sin
When he did what he did with his pelvis and thighs

John McGuiggan:

The ayes have it, the ayes have it
Roared the speaker loud and clear
The crowded house, unanimous
With wild excited cheers
From the front bench arose a wench
Her fiery eyes ablaze
God bless you all, God bless you all
our salaries are raised

Blind Wilderness:

A man who made lots of pies
Sudeenly heard lots of cries
He’d killed Clara Cluck
And Darren the duck
And then tears feel like rain from his eyes

Treehugger:

My pusscat hunts with her eyes,
Stretched out on her tummy she lies,
But the mouse is too clever,
Despite her endeavour,
Poor pusscat, how hard she tries.

The Elephant’s Trunk:

Shoo, Fly!

A silly young baker named Guy
Baked onions inside a pie
With tears in his eyes
He watched with surprise
As his pie became lunch for a fly!

Olaf Sturlasson’s Poetry Corner:

A young woman with come to bed eyes
Developed a craving for pies
Whilst the man she did date
Taking note of her weight
Suspected a little surprise

Dog Paddling Through Life:

He rolled his eyes at me and said,
“What is that you’ve got on your head?”
I replied, “Oh that?
It’s just an old cat
who claimed my bouffant as a bed.”

Sexagenarian Scribbler:

I went in with eyes open wide
Not exactly the blushing bride
His past history
No mystery to me
But I had my secrets to hide

Dawgy Daddy Responds:

Appropinquate this with an open mind
As I present you another oddball rhyme
Words written down in the blink of an eye
While eating a toasted turkey and Swiss on rye
A throwback to peaceful insanity defined

    That gorgeous witch from Carlilse
Was planning on running a mile
When she went for her first jog
She got stuck in a bog
‘What’s the point?’ she said ‘if I can’t do it with style?’

  4. Jogging Limerick

In the bog there’s a frog who would jog.
In the fog there’s a dog who would hog
all the rhymes that I had
which at times made me sad
as I jog like a frog on my blog.

  6. When I look in the mirror and see
An old bald man looking at me,
    I don’t really care
That I’ve lost all my hair…
It jogs a sweet flowing mane memory.

    Jog on

So I thought I’d get fit and go for a jog

The puddle I straddled turned into a bog

    It sucked me right under

    Then cold rain and thunder

My big idea made me all of a sog

  8. It seems when I purpose to jog,
A dead horse I’m attempting to flog.
It’s like when I read Dickens,
    The plot always thickens,
And methinks that the years do befog.

A young man from France liked to go for a jog.
He ran every day, come rain, shine or fog.
    He jogged through the ‘hood,
    He jogged through the wood.
Until he stopped – ‘cause he’d met a hog.

Copy and paste does really funny things. At first it wouldn’t copy, notw it’s highlighted in yellow.

I hope you like it, even in yellow.

    1. I like the yellow! I’m going to have to figure out to make mine yellow next time.

      1. I didn’t do anything different than normally (consciously). I tried to copy and paste from my post and it stayed blank, then I used copy&paste from my word document (which I’ve done before) and the yellow appeared.

      2. It can be done!!!!

It is yellow. Now green. Now it’s gold!
You can even make everything BOLD!
        And italics — that, too.
Oh, what else can it do?
Can it jog? — Well, no matter. I’m sold!

Select some text. Where you normally see the B (bold) and I (italics) there should be a drop-down arrow labeled More. It will give you the “Highlight” option where you can change the text or background. Although yellow isn’t one of the options, you can find the code for yellow by searching the internet, then choose “Edit HTML” and change the code to that.

I know all that is more than you wanted to know. I’m going to press reply to see if it works.

    Hello Esther,

    Here’s this week’s limerick:

When Lucinda got fat as a hog, she reluctantly started to jog. She was dreadfully slow and it caused her great woe, so she wrote it all up on her blog.

    Best, Susan

  26. Keep healthy – don’t jog

It’s the joggers who are always  the first to die

Then the cyclists in lycra who ride side by side

And  the gym junkies  posing in mirrors and  adoring their sweat

They’re well on their way to meet up with death

We shall survive them, both you and me

    A bit overweight

    and fond of our cakes

that we take with our tea

Let them ride and jog en route to their graves

we’ll see them all out to a riper old age
