First of all I’d like to apologise to those of you whose blogs I haven’t managed to read or comment on over the past few weeks. I also have a stack of book reviews I need to post. My excuse is that, as of today, I have a new role that’s taken a lot of training for.
Many of you know that I’ve been a tutor for The Writers Bureau for a number of years now. It’s something I’ve loved being part of. So when the principal, Susie Busby, told me she was retiring and going to close the college, I was devastated. I started out with them in the 90s as a student. I didn’t want to let it go yet.
Well, after a few conversations and planning, Susie agreed to let me have the trading name and continue with the college. Susie has been amazing over the recent months, patiently training me. So today I’ve been let loose as principal. I’m delighted it’s continuing. I’m not even going to try and fill her shoes. She really has been fantastic over the 37 years she’s been involved with the WB. But I’ll do my best to run it well. I’ll still be editing for authors and I’ll remain a tutor myself, but a few of my writing projects will have to take a backseat for now. Though I will, of course, still be blogging and running my challanges.
If you’d like to see what courses and clubs we offer, you can find them here. We’ve also got some great Zoom workshops coming up in the autumn term. Click here for details.
