A week or so ago, Esther shared a post asking for feedback on possible blurbs for my forthcoming release, Renegade. To my delight, it got an even bigger response than a similar request she put out for Borderline last year. The feedback was really positive, especially as it quickly narrowed down the field from six options to two.
All the feedback was helpful, but I was thrilled to see how many offered up reasons for their choice. There were comments on the wording of specific lines, and that made me look at them again and tweak them to make them better. There were even suggestions for alternatives – and I can only say thank you for putting in the time to come up with those. Because I hadn’t ruled out using alternatives, or mixing and matching lines from the options I’d already come up with.
One of the lines from my original six wasn’t included in the shortlist of two, but several people said it had struck a chord with them. To be fair, it was one I liked as well. So I did try to get it to fit. Sadly, I couldn’t find a way of making it work without screwing up the rest of the blurb. So for those of you who liked the ‘livestock’ line, I apologise – I wanted it in there too.
Still, we got a winner (albeit with some very minor tweaks).
