Guest Writer Spot

If you’d like to be included in this slot, please get in touch: estherchilton@gmail.com. Poems can be up to 60 lines and prose 2000 words. If you’d like to add a short bio and photo, then great. All I ask is that there’s nothing offensive.

This week’s guest has been a student of mine on various courses with The Writers Bureau. She has also been a member of our writing group, Let’s Write, since it started. Please welcome Jodie Bishop with a moving poem:

If Only I’d Known

By

Jodie Bishop

If only I’d known, it would be the last family outing

If only I’d known, it would be the last party we hosted

If only I’d known, it would be the last family meal

If only I’d known, it would be the last time putting the children to bed, reading them stories

If only I’d known, it would be the last cuddle we had

If only I’d known, it would be our last kiss goodnight

If only I’d known, it would be the last phone call you made

If only I’d known, it would be the last time you left home for work, waving to us

If only I’d known, you weren’t going to come home

Bio

Hi I’m Jodie, and I study with The Writers Bureau and in my time have done a few courses. I have written different pieces over the years.

I currently am writing my first novel.
