Book Review – The Prism of Poems by Bharul Chhatbar

I was fortunate to be gifted this beautiful book of poems by Bharul herself and loved every one of them. Here’s the blurb:

This book is a heartfelt collection of poems that beautifully exploes the spectrum of human emotions – love, motherhood, faith, nature, and the quiet strength of relationships. With verses that range from the deeply personal to the universally spiritual, each poem offers a moment of reflection, healing or joy. Whether it’s the vibrant arrival of spring, the depth of a mother’s love, or the quiet strength found in life’s transitions, these poems invite readers to pause, feel, and connect. Written with lyrical grace and soulful intent, the book is a gentle journey from the outer world to the inner self – where every word is sown with emotion and harvested in meaning.

My review:

When I finished Bharul’s collection, I was filled with a joy for life; her book so uplifting and beautifully constructed. Women and their role in society and as mothers is celebrated, as are children, love, nature, the journey of life and more. My favourite poem was Our School Reunion. Here are the opening lines:

We gathered here from near and worldwide

With laughter lines to show not hide!

We came in packs, all heels and grace,

Then like chillies now capsicum and cabbages!

Thanks, Bharul, for a truly special gift.
