This week I’d like to introduce Ernest Federspiel as my Guest Writer. Many of you will know him from his great blog “The Dawghouse“. Ernest has written a stunning poem for you to enjoy:
Savannah Street Jamboree
A tanned impala came screeching up to the curb
A pink flamingo jumped on his back without a word
They were headed to the Savannah Street Jamboree
I hitched a ride, because it sounded fun to me
A pride of lions stood outside the entrance gate
Collecting donations for the host Bonnie Raitt
Her slide guitar was kicking out some smooth blues
When I saw that familiar wildebeest talking to you
I knew right away he would leave unanswered tales
We have crossed paths before while sipping Bass Ale
Now he has started to sing to Bonnie’s sliding riff
Exhaling the smoke of natures leaves, giving us a whiff
The jamboree just started, introducing a hot Saturday night
Two turkey buzzards are twisting to the crowd’s wild delight
Over in the corner, sitting on top of a giant red mushroom
I whisper to a blue fairy and watch as she slowly swoons
Everyone is digging this evening’s magical mystical tour
No one can resist the color of sound they find so pure
Bonnies’ set is done, and next up is a saxophone playing flea
From me to you, a fun night at the Savannah Street Jamboree
Ernest says: This is from my second release of poems “Silent Screams” which was released on April 14 . It is available on my site today and will be available elsewhere in the next couple of days.
