Laughing Along With A Limerick

I hope you survived the chilly weekend. It should be getting warmer next week. Here’s a new limerick challenge for you:

WINK

Least week’s prompt was SNOW. You came up with some amazing limericks:

Trent:

Stay inside all you please

Shivering shoulders and shaking knees

But when there’s snow

Well, off I go

To the mountains with boots and skis!

Kim Smyth:

There once was a town under snow

Who were warmed from their fires aglow

Soon it was melting away

And they all knelt to pray

For the sunshine and dry air to blow.

Treehugger:

Hello to the man made of snow.

He appears in the garden, don’t you know.

With coal black eyes, and a carrot nose,

With twiggy arms he strikes a pose.

Remembering a childhood long ago.

Christine Mallaband-Brown:

It’s no joke said the garage guy

The snow is too thick, that’s why

You can’t test drive it

You won’t survive in it!

Come in, keep warm, and stay dry!

D. Wallace Peach:

There once was a goose with cold feet

From standing outside in the sleet

He hated the snow

To the south he would go

But the farmer was set on white meat.

Annette Rochelle Aben:

Briskly, she said “snow way”

Not going out today

Don’t want to freeze my tush

I’d prefer you not push

Ask me again in May.

Frank Hubeny:

It is white. It is bright. It is snow.

Down the street, if I’m forced to, I’d go.

But I’m not, so I won’t.

You ask, why? Well, I don’t

really know and that’s all that I know.

Ruth Blogs Here:

Woke today to a blanket of snow

So thank God I’ve got nowhere to go

Keeping cosy inside

With this week’s TV guide

And a hot cup of tea and a throw.

Therapy Bits:

There once was a flurry of snow,

That danced in the bright moonlight’s glow.

It covered the town,

In a sparkling gown,

Turning rooftops to clouds far below.

TanGental:

I’m not one to moan, as you know

But it comes as a bit of a blow

That my journey’s curtailed

When my train is derailed

By the fall of the wrong sort of snow.

Pensitivity101:

The sun was shining above

Covering the landscape with love,

The boy wanted snow

To make his rosy cheeks glow

And to give his toboggan a shove!

Squirreljan:

I braved the cold and snowfall yesterday

And made a snowman on my balcony

‘It’s an alien,’ said my niece

I agreed to keep the peace

As it melted to a planet faraway.

Link People 2003:

Once a penguin in winter attire in a town where the cold winds blow,

Slipped on ice, oh dear, what a spire, where fell a blanket of pure white snow!

He danced and he twirled and the kids laughed in delight,

On the snow, he swirled till he stopped by the warm fire while building snowmen till night,

Underneath the moon’s gentle glow!

Olaf Sturlasson’s Poetry Corner:

Build a man out of snow

See how high you can go

Build him so tall

With a massive snowball

But don’t place the carrot too low.

  1. When I dropped my iPhone in the drink
My children were both tickled pink.
    I asked my sweet wife
If she could save my life.
She replied with a smile and a wink

  2. No, I wasn’t hitting on you!
I had something in my eye, that’s true
    Whatever you think
    It wasn’t a wink
Now your husband’s made it all black and blue!

    Wide awake Dawn arrived
    Mr. Sandman stinks
    Not giving me 40-winks
It’s morning and I’m sleep deprived

  3. In the wink of an eye he disappeared
A magician, he had knowledge seared
    In his superior brain
    he never was seen again
His trick was too good and totally feared!

  5. There once was a man on the brink,

Of thoughts too nefarious to think.

    He tried to control

    What he felt was vitriol

So he settled fast for mearly a wink.

My cheeks burned a bright shade of pink

Uunder the table I wanted to shrink

    Just what was he saying

    What game was he playing

Or was it simply an innocent wink?

  8. It happened so fast like a blink
of the eye in the sky should it wink
    and the future’s now gone
and the past has moved on
and the present can no longer think.

    Uncommonly partial to drink
She said no to her sup
Just said, Fill up my cup!
And she polished it off in a blink.

  13. I thought I saw him wink,

My face lit up bright pink.

    But many years have passed,

Alas my youth did not last .

Perhaps it was only a blink.
