When I was teaching a course on writing competitions at Swanwick Writing Summer School back in August, I launched two competitions for those attending the school. I had some fantastic entries for both competitions which made my job of choosing winners very difficult. But I promised I would announce the winning stories today so I’ve kept my promise. Here goes…
Competition One: For stories between 1000-3000 words on any of the following themes: LIBRARY, JOURNEY and LOVE.
1st Place: David Caunce with Stick or Twist?
2nd Place: Sally McMahon with Travelling with Sarah
3rd Place: Sharon Richards with Still on the Shelf
Competition Two: For flash fiction stories on any theme, up to 250 words.
1st Place: Terry Lowell with A Father’s Son
2nd Place: Terry Baldock with Dead Ahead
3rd Place: Allison Symes with Catching Up
Congratulations to all of you. I will be publishing the winning stories over the next three weekends. Prizes will be awarded after publication.
