Book News – Too Many Books To Write!

So, last week, I mentioned that I’ve got a deadline for my new how-to book. I’m also working on rebranding my first book of short stories, The Siege. That’s enough work, isn’t it? Along with my editing work, tutoring, zoom workshops, writing club and article and short story writing. Oh, and I’ve written a series of children’s books that I need to do something with.

But ideas keep popping into my head for novels. I’ve started one and it’s reached 27,000 words, but I know I need to kill one of my characters off and I really like her. I’m sure I’m just putting it off, but another idea keeps nagging away at me, refusing to go away. So I’m tempted to set the first novel aside and work on the other one. Then, this morning, in the shower, a nugget of a new idea started to demand attention…

Do any of you have the same problem? Or are you disciplined and start what you finish?

  3. I have managed to reduce the TBW pile so currently I only have 7 draft novels at the moment… then there’s a memoir and a bunch of poetry and a fictionalised version of my family in the first half of the 20th century… not a lot really

Hold on to that character. She may be perfect for another book. Or she may need to occupy a bigger role in the current manuscript. Happy new year!
