Can You Tell A Story In…

It’s the Thursday after New Year. I hope 2024 is going well for you so far. Here’s a little story challenge:

Can you tell a story in 41 words? You must use the following words somewhere in the story:

  • TRIANGLE
  • DRESS
  • MEMBERSHIP
  • ANGRY
  • CUDDLY
  • OVEN

Last week’s prompt was to tell a story in 13 words using the following three words in it somewhere:

  • RESOLUTIONS
  • FIREWORKS
  • DRUNK

Here are your brilliant stories:

Darlene:

I wrote my resolutions during the fireworks and before I got too drunk.

Kim Smyth:

His resolution was not to get drunk before the fireworks. It didn’t last.

Chris Page:

One of my resolutions was to not be drunk when setting off fireworks.

Christine Mallaband-Brown:

Got drunk, my resolutions not to let off fireworks went out the window!

Ritu:

Too drunk to light the fireworks. New Year’s resolution: to drink much less!

Trent’s World:

I drunk my resolutions with lime, Tabasco and saltpeter. Now for the fireworks…

Michael B. Fishman:

My drunk resolutions: no fireworks there.

I think I’ll just do nothing.

Again.

Treehugger:

Resolutions broken, he staggered in drunk. Fireworks began, he rocketed from the kitchen.

Ann Edall-Robson:

Drunk on the afterglow of fireworks, the women denounced the next year’s resolution.

She’d broken her only resolution and got blind drunk. Now for the fireworks.

    The TRIANGLE shaped DRESS was required for MEMBERSHIP. This made the ANGRY yet CUDDLY child most uncomfortable. They decided that membership was overrated, so the dress was burned in the OVEN. When the fire was doused, the child had become unrecognizable.

    A triangle shaped dress? she said. How am I going to bake a cake like that. She put the oven on. Her daughter held her cuddly toy. I can win membership of ‘brilliant cooks’ but she got angry because of the cost.

    She opened the oven and pulled out the cuddly looking gingerbread men. They were required for membership this month, but she had been angry about that decision. Now she donned the triangle shaped dress -so dumb-and left for the meeting.
