Book News – What Are You Reading?

After a few weeks celebrating the publication of my new book, The Storm, I thought I’d throw things over to you. What books are you working on at the moment and how are they going? If you’re not working on anything yourself, what are you currently reading? Maybe you’re doing both.

I’m almost at the end of Dracula. I’ve never read it before, but when I recently went to Whitby Abbey I couldn’t resist buying a copy. I’m thoroughly enjoying it and I think it’s holding its own considering how long ago it was written. I’m also rather partial to an epistolary novel.

  2. I just wrote the end of the first draft of Amanda in Scotland: The Standing Stones and just finished reading OMD (Oh My Dog) by Peri and Barb Taub. It is hilarious, written from the point of view of Peri, Barb’s therapy dog. I really should read Dracula one day.

      2. Pretty sure I read it because I compared the differences between movie and book when watching.

  4. I’m reading A Most Malicious Messenger by Katherine Black and The Restless Republic by Anna Keay. The first is a murder mystery and it’s unusual, very good so far. The other is about the English Civil War, mainly non-fiction, I say mainly for good reason.
I’m writing short stories and working on two novels, one about a Fenland Private Eye, the other a murder mystery.

  6. As I’m working towards a late Feb / early March release of my book recounting amusing tales of growing up in the late Sixties / 1970s, I’ve been keeping the mood going by reading Phil Andrews book’The Best Year of Our Lives.’
(I’ll pop a review up on my blog in the next few days as I’m almost finished it.)

  7. I first read Dracula about 20 years ago, and have read it again recently. I love the classic stories, and gothic horror is a favourite of mine. If you are interested in this genre then I would sugest Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, another great classic, and beautifully written.
I usually have two books to read simaltainiously, one in the day, and one at night before going to sleep.
I’ve just finished reading Spare, the biography of Prince Harry, very revealing and an eye opener to what goes on in the royal family. And the one I’m reading in bed is Ed and Lorraine Warren Satan’s Harvest, a true story of demonic possession. It’s not everyone’s bedtime read though.
