In the final part of this series, I bring you some more customs from around the globe:
- Ever heard of baby jumping? Apparently, in a small community in Spain, residents take part in El Colacho. This literally translates as ‘baby jumping’. Babies are placed on mattresses in the street and men dressed up as the devil jump over them. It’s believed this will keep the devil at bay. I’m sure there’s an easier way…
- If you enjoy watching sport, you might want to go along to the annual Wife Carrying Championships in Finland. The winner receives the equivalent of the wife’s weight in beer, a bag full of wife-carrying merchandise and an official logo statue. If it was wine, I might be interested…
- In Mexico, they hold a radish-carving festival in the holiday season. Well, it’s better than eating them. Or does anyone actually like the taste of radishes?
