Cover Reveal

A few weeks ago, I brought you news that the latest book in my A Helping Hand For Writers series is due out later this year. Here’s the blurb and cover:

Short Story Focus

Do you enjoy writing short stories but feel you’re not getting it quite right? Perhaps your opening lacks that necessary spark, or it’s the middle that sags. It might be that you’re not sure how to bring your tale to a satisfying close, or you may be struggling with a range of issues.

Writers Bureau tutor, editor and freelance writer Esther Chilton teaches you all the ins and outs of short story writing in her second workbook.

These include:

–  Hooking your reader at the start

–  Ensuring your characters leap from the page

–  Which viewpoint and tense to use

–  The art of using dialogue

–  The importance of tension and obstacles

–  How to ‘show, not tell’

–  Finishing strongly

You’ll find plenty of examples, tips and writing exercises to try.

      2. I am looking forward to attending Esther’s short course, “Rediscovering Your Writing Mojo”, at the Swanwick Writers’ Summer School in early August. I lost my mojo in in a deep, dark pit about four or five years ago. I can’t even remember what shape, size or colour it was. It will be great to find it again.

Perhaps followers of this thread can encourage each other – Esther’s Mojo Club. We’ve got this!

  5. I feel, though I ever inch closer to have a short story that is just right, that I’m one epiphany short of a good story. This just might help me get there. Thanks, Esther.

  10. You may have an idea of what Im about to say Esther.. 🤷🏻‍♀️but Oh My Gosh! Im afraid to confess I did not read this post properly at first and the cover I thought was a picture you had put up from the internet!

Therefore once again when I realised my mistake I was like ‘Oh My Gosh’ it looks like a brilliant cover 😃 can I be presumptuous and assume its Charlottes work like the other one…?

Again cant wait for this one, to sit next to your other one….👍🏻

Best of luck with it👍🏻👏🏻❤️ 💛
