Thank you so much for all your lovely responses to me opening up my Friday poetry blog post to guest poets. I’m very pleased to welcome my first guest – Kim Smyth, with her delightful poem. Here’s a little bit about Kim:
Kim Smyth is a freelance writer studying to become a transcriptionist. She lives in Texas with her main man David, their two adorable shorkies, and a crazy cat who likes to interrupt their pool games.
A Poem for my Birthday
By
Kim Smyth
It’s my birthday, and I just want to say
I plan to enjoy it in each and every way
Being sixty isn’t such a bad thing
Honestly, I feel more like sixteen
Too bad my body doesn’t match my brain
Cause me, I feel like dancing in the rain!
However, I’ll settle for lunch with a friend
And my man who loves me til the very end.
Celebrate your birthday, it’s your day to shine
Getting a bit older is no cause to whine.
Embrace this life, it’s the only one you get
Be blessed and just live it with gusto, no regret!
