Here’s your Monday smile – it’s limerick time. Send in your own or here’s a prompt for you –
PLANT
Here are a few limericks to make you smile this Monday. The prompt last week was HAUNT.
How often have you seen a ghost?
Asked Marvin, our affable host.
Until we convene
No-one will have seen
The house that is haunted the most.
A dude once went for a jaunt
Looking for a good place to haunt
A corral he chose
The cowboy at once knows
‘Cause his horses before didn’t flaunt.
My good friend and one of my team,
Is naughty, or so it would seem,
She goes out for a jaunt,
To her favourite haunt
But in truth, it’s is all in a dream!
I’ll haunt my house and make them go
Away from here, make a good show.
My family really are the worst
They eat all my food, fit to burst.
I’ll wear a bed sheet, with added glow!
Paul Mastaglio:
“This ain’t any old haunt,”
I hear you taunt.
“It’s my secret cave
Only visited by the brave,
So join me on this special jaunt.”
My mind’s a haven for gray withered haunts…
Naught else to do, so they hurl their old taunts…
They’re not very pauciloquent in their spew—
But why rail in 5 words when 50 will do?
As if ghosts’ vast vocab is worthy of flaunts!
Linking People 2003:
How to escape the haunt?
Are the ghosts playing truant?
Unknown faces disappear in light,
No one has to fight or flight.
Tired of seeing shadows flaunt!
For we verbalists, Haunt
Refuses to rhyme with Aunt;
And while I would love
To be able to prove
It really can, I really can’t.
