I have a treat for you this week. My Friday poem comes from the very talented 13-year-old Rachael Stimpson who wrote her Do, Re, Mi poem as a music assignment. She also drew some delightful drawings to go with it. Enjoy.

DO, RE, MI, FA, SO, LA, TI,
Is what SOLFA of music needs.
The syllables of SOLFA all have terms,
But let me share with you to confirm.
DO, but not the female deer
Is also known as Tonic, do you fear?
RE, a drop of golden sun
Is called Super Tonic, oh what fun!
Mi, … wait am I me?
It means Mediant, yes at the third degree.
Then FA the Sub Dominant the fourth degree
But not the Dominant would you agree?
Here comes SO, the great Dominant
That pulls the thread like it’s so prominent.
La, the Sub Mediant, the note that follows SO
Right behind but not too slow.
Finally, TI also the Leading Note
Comes after all the other quotes.
That’s the end … OH WAIT COME BACK!
Here comes DO; we’re back on track.
