No One Cares
All around the world there is such pain,
The needy lose out, while fat cats gain,
Poverty has been brought to the fore,
And countries caught up in hideous war,
Terrorists and tyrants try to rule,
And cabinet members play the fool,
But no one cares about me.
People awake to a bright new day,
Barbies, Bratz and Barnie too, it’s child’s play,
Mothers fret over which cereal,
And businessmen dads make deal after deal,
Day after day and the next one too,
They roll into one, there’s nothing new,
But no one cares about me.
They did once, they all cared about me,
Grandad used to bounce me on his knee,
Grandma baked blackberry and apple pie,
And Mum used to do up my school tie,
Dad stood in goal while I kicked in the ball,
And picked me up if I were to fall,
But no one cares about me.
Not now, I am despised and wished dead,
No longer one of us, they all said,
Ten years I’ve been in this prison cell,
I didn’t do it, the young girl fell,
No one believed me, no one at all,
Now I’m left with just a prison wall,
No one cares about me.
