Laughing Along With A Limerick

Here’s your Monday smile – it’s limerick time. Send in your own or here’s a prompt for you –

TRUST

Here are a few limericks to make you smile this Monday. The prompt last week was SCARY.

Keith Channing:

Scary poems upset me in bed.

Can’t sleep fearing I’ll wake up dead

And if I spend time

Reading blood-curdling rhyme

You know it’ll fill me with dread.

Christine Mallaband-Brown:

It’s scary that an orange man

Could be running the world again

He has no compassion

But lies with a passion

Tomorrow we will see his plan.

Kim Smyth:

To me, Halloween was not hairy

No candy, no goblins, no fairy,

I did try all night

Gave myself no such fright

Viewing movies supposedly scary!

Ruth Blogs Here:

So the world watches on feeling wary

Four more years is a prospect most scary

Wake up out of your bubble

This man’s nothing but trouble

His unhinged blatant lies never vary.

Paul Mastaglio:

There once was a lass called Mary

Who was a little bit scary

She’d hide behind a wall

And give you a call

Making your skin stand up all hairy.

Smita Ray:

She worked all-day in the dairy

And walked gracefully like a fairy

After a few pegs

I was counting legs

When she whirled back, her face was all hairy!

Lyncrain:

Already knew this man’s contrary

Going on a date may be scary

But being grounded helps

Better than taking scalps

Or hoping he’ll ask me to marry.

Geoff Le Pard:

Being part troll, Jane was excessively hairy

Which sad to relate made her naturally scary.

She tried depilation

But to her consternation

She still looked more furball than fairy.

Sarian Lady:

I once had a friend called Mary

Who liked to dress up as a fairy

She loved to feed

on honey and mead

And became quite hairy and scary.

Sharon Tingle:

El Día De Los Muertos

Celebrated by Los Mexicanos

With altars of scary sugar skulls and bread

Homage is paid to those now dead

Scary fun fiestas para nosotros.

  1. I trust myself to be right
    When getting into a fight
    Not to be too aggressive
    In fact I’m quite passive
and often run off in fright…

  2. Americans say ‘In God We Trust’
Though lately that’s seemed shrouded in dust.
But just by Biden their time
They’ve shown they still give a dime
And Donnie’s flush has been finally bust.

  3. “Trust me” said old Donald Trump
But election results gave him the hump
    “This is all cheating!”
    We heard him bleating
As he landed outside with a bump!

(Written in my lunch hour, off the hoof!)

  4. Allie was and actress shinning bright
    Playing local clubs every night
After a flop she almost quit
But was pulled back to become a hit
And was thus thrust into the light

(Darn, I was trying to get “thrust into the limnelight”, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t do it!)

“I have a great thrust” Mark did brag
“It gets a smile from maid and hag”
    He was acting flirty
    Figured he was talking dirty
But discovered fencing was his bag

    1. Sorry, I misread today’s word… I discovered my mistake when I went back and read the others. Hmm, I’ll have to think of something new now…

      1. There once was a guy who would bellow
The ground shook when he said “Hello!”
        He might be loud
        And awfully proud
But he is a trust worthy fellow

        Terri would act absurd
But you could always trust her word
        She would rather die
        Than tell a lie
She’s the most honest woman you ever heard

      5. Thanks! It would be interesting to see what people made of it if you did use “thrust”.

    It’ll be OK
    I hear you say
    My shoulder’s healing
    Getting back that old feeling
Trust me, your book is on its way!

    Cheers Paul 😁

  6. Trust isn’t given, it’s earned
Regardless of what you have learned
    Uless you enthuse
    Some credence you’ll lose
Take care, it’s not nice to be spurned.

    In any relationship, there must
    Be honesty, respect and trust
    His cheating heart
    Drove us apart
Now all my dreams have turned to dust

I trust that you trust me
    To handle your bargaining plea
    But the evidence found
Seemed not to clarify but to compound
Alas, the judge did not agree.
