This week’s guest writer is Kevin Morris with his poem, Their Time in the Sun. Kevin lives in Upper Norwood (a suburb of Greater London) and many of his nature poems are inspired by Spa Wood (a remnant of the Great North Wood) which is a stone’s throw from his home.
Their Time in the Sun

Kevin Morris
They have fun
In the sun.
Their perfect
Bodies reject
The fact that they
Will grow old.
Were I to be bold
And say,
“All this will pass
Away,”
Lad and lass would laugh.
Though, perhaps a thoughtful few
Would say,
“That’s true.
But we must
Enjoy our day
Ere we are dust.”
And I would nod
And go away.

Here’s a little bit more about Kevin and his writing:
Kevin Morris was born in the city of Liverpool, United Kingdom, on 6 January 1969.
Having graduated from University College Swansea with a BA in history and politics and a MA in political theory, Kevin moved to London where he has lived and worked since 1994.
Being visually impaired, Kevin uses software called Job Access with Speech (JAWS), which converts text into speech and braille enabling him to use a Windows computer or laptop.
