I Still Want Your Stories!

Last week, I announced the launch of a new short story competition to celebrate the sixth anniversary of the release of my first book of short stories, The Siege. There’s still time to enter. Here are the details for you:

One of the stories in The Siege opens as follows:

I didn’t know what had happened. Not at first. And then I knew.

I’d like your story to open in the same way. What happens after those first three lines is up to you. Perhaps your character has found himself in another world, or maybe they’ve just heard the news that a relative has died. See where your imagination takes you.

The maximum word count for your story is 500 words. The closing date is Friday 19th June. E-mail your entries to estherchilton@gmail.com

I’ll choose the winning entry after the closing date and publish the story on my blog. The winner will also receive a copy of The Siege, penned under the name Esther Newton.

  1. A fun idea, Esther. I have not time as I have twenty remaining pages of my novel to edit this weekend [yay! the end is in sight] and the time line to insert and then I am having a rest for a few weeks.

      1. I do, 110 000 words is a lot of effort.
