I’d heard many a good thing about Caroline England’s books, but I’d never read one. After meeting her at a recent author meet-up, and talking to her about her books, I knew I simply had to get stuck into one. I started with Betray Her, Caroline’s third psychological thriller.
The blurb says:
‘Best friends forever.
That’s the pact you made.
You’d do anything for her.
And you have.
She’s always had it all.
If you could take it for yourself . . . would you?‘

The first thing that stuck me was how skilled Caroline is in painting a vivid picture of the scene and characters in the reader’s mind. The story is told in a mixture of the present day and through various flashbacks and Caroline makes you feel as if you’re right there, whether it’s now or in the past.
I like a story that gradually builds layer upon layer of intrigue, tension and conflict, where characters aren’t quite what they seem and Betray Her is just such a book. You know secrets are lurking in the shadows but not what they are or when they’re going to be uncovered in all their shocking glory.
If you’re looking for something a bit different, with plenty of dark twists, right to the dramatic climax, try Betray Her.
