Unwanted Gifts
It was the worst time of year,
One that filled me with great fear,
It was Christmas day, you see,
I knew I should be full of glee,
To receive presents and gifts galore,
But I didn’t want them, not any more,
Not out-of-date sweets from Uncle Ken,
Or twee ornaments yet again,
I didn’t want toasters or a wok,
Nor an annoying cuckoo clock,
I’ve got earrings coming out of my ears,
And pongy smellies have reduced me to tears,
Though there was one thing that would have been quite good,
And that’s money. I just wish they’d understood.

Seriously, I was thoroughly spoiled and feel very lucky. Though, the best gift of all was spending time with my loved ones. I can’t ask for more than that.
