I Challenge You To…

This week’s challenge is to write a story, limerick or poem on the subject of:

Kids

Last week’s theme was travel. Here are some of the entertaining pieces you sent in:

Keith Channing sent in a witty limerick:

I once planned to visit Siam
With a side trip to south Vietnam
Things always unravel
When I dare to travel
So I guess I’ll just stay where I am.

Kristian has written an uplifting piece:

Like Alice Falling down a rabbit hole, or Aladdin riding a magic carpet, the world of fantastic travel is open to you, without the cost of a plane fare, just by picking up a book.
Let the magic ride begin.

Please visit Bindu‘s site for a lovely piece on travel:

  1. Just a bit of spontaneity …

Oh no, it’s our daughter and the kids
quick behind the sofa, let’s pretend we’re not in
that damn bell, why do they ring so much
hey, careful there watch what you touch
    mind you, while we’re here
what do mean, you’d rather let the kids in!

  3. Be a love and pass me my slippers
Let’s sit back and breakfast on kippers
    After next to no sleep
    Black pudding’ll keep
But just keep it away from the nippers.

Here’s a poem I wrote after the birth of a tiny granddaughter. It’s published on my Grandma blog.

You’re ever so tiny, impossibly cute,
    Utterly miniature, very astute.
You know when it’s dinner; you know when it’s snack.
You’d charm the shirt right off a car salesman’s back.
We love you with all of your sweet winning ways,
And we know that we’ll love you for all of our days.
But always remember that God loves you more
From before you were born until forever more.
