Monday Motivations

As usual, the weekend went by in a flash and Monday has whizzed round far too quickly. To get your mind working, why not have a go at one of my two short story competitions (with prizes!) One of them is for a flash fiction story of up to 100 words. You could write a haunting ghost story, which will send shivers down my spine, or you could go for a story to make me chuckle.ย  Hereโ€™s one of mine for you:

If Only…

The publisher sighed. He looked round his room, at the faded, flimsy curtains and the threadbare seat, its stitching hanging out and dangling down onto the dusty floor. And was that a splodge of curry sauce from his latest take-away splashed up the wall? Or was it something worse?

He squeezed his eyes shut, imaging soft, sumptuous furnishings, fine food and the ting ting of crystal glasses as his success was toasted. If only…if only he hadnโ€™t turned J.K. Rowling down.

  1. That’s really good! ๐Ÿ˜„ I bet it isn’t too far from the truth, either! Those publishers who turned her down must still be kicking themselves!

      1. You’re welcome ๐Ÿ˜Š
I’m enjoying them very much, and finding them rewarding. The challenge has given me a massive confidence boost as it has shown me that I can definitely write at least 1000 words per day as long as I set my mind to it. Thanks, let’s hope I can keep it up!
