Monday Motivations

As usual, the weekend went by in a flash and we find ourselves staring Monday in the face again. To get your mind working, why not have a go at one of my two short story competitions (with prizes!) One of them is for a flash fiction story of up to 100 words. You can write a gripping crime story, which will have me on the edge of my seat, or you could go for a story to make me laugh.  Here’s one of mine for you:

The Accident

He screamed; the pain was agonising. He couldn’t go on like this for much longer. Someone had to come and rescue him soon. His head whipped round; he’d heard something…hadn’t he? Horses’ hooves hurtled towards him. He sighed. Why had they bothered to come? They wouldn’t be any good at all. All the King’s horses and all the King’s men wouldn’t be able to put him, Humpty, together again.

  3. Here is my 100 word story, which I plan to post on Simplicity Lane this week:

    “Fowl Business”

Eddy grew up on the family farm. Being the youngest of six children, he was given the task of feeding the chickens. While some would say it was mundane work, Eddie would find out his pecking order. Thus it was no surprise that Eddy would eventually own a chicken business, and is now busy running a multi-layer organization.

One day Eddie’s car, a Range Rover, disappeared; ‘how foul’, thought Eddie. Thankfully the police quickly found the car; and Eddie said this coupe was a feather in their caps.

Being foresighted, Eddy bought a cow to beef up the farm’s security.

      2. Yes, I certainly am. It always amazes me where writers’ imaginations take them.
