Monday Motivations

Last week, I launched my two short story competitions (with prizes!) One of them is for a flash fiction story of up to 100 words. The theme is an open one so let your imagination go and see where it takes you. What am I looking for? I’m looking for something different, something unexpected; I also like humour and a strong twist.

Here’s an example for you:

Torture

Maggie knew the woman was going to hurt her. She thought about running away, but the woman stood between her and the door. The woman smiled. Maggie was sure there was a glint in her eye – a glint that revealed how much she loved to torment her victims.

She drew in a deep breath. She mustn’t cry. Maggie jumped as she felt the heat, sure it was scorching her skin. She closed her eyes, gasping at the pain. She had to be near the end now.

One thing was certain: she was never having a bikini wax again.
