I have featured two of Traci Aina’s poems in my Friday Guest Writer Spot on previous occasions and I’m thrilled to welcome her back with a very powerful poem.

Here’s a little about her in her own words:

‘Hi, I’m Traci.  I am a beginner writer, wife and mother of two.  As well as writing, my passions are literature, travelling, yoga and meditation’.

Nobody Woman

Nobody woman what do you represent?
Besides many years of discontent
Nobody woman, what do you long to achieve?
So many things but still you grieve

You were oppressed from the day you were born,
White man raped you, black man scorned
Now here you sit a mother of three,
Robbed of your pride and your dignity

You are beautiful but you cannot see,
You have so much talent but no opportunity
Do not bask in self-pity, do not wonder and cry
For Sister, now is your time to try

Use all of your strength and God-given grace
To pull you and your family from out of this place
For it’s shown in the history ingrained in your face
That is perpetually bound to every race

They won’t give you the money
They can’t give you the time
But at least when you get through
You can say “Truly this is mine!”

You see Nobody Woman, you don’t know your power
And at the same time
You’re as delicate as a flower
