If you’re looking for a short story and/or poetry competition, which offers decent prize money, you might like to take a look at the Magic Oxygen Literary Prize. Unpublished stories of up to 4000 words and unpublished poems of up to 40 lines are accepted. There is no set theme. Prizes awarded for each category are as follows:
1st prize: £1000
2nd prize: £300
3rd prize: £100
Two runners-up in each category will win £50.
Each entry will cost you £5.

Wow! What an impressive judges line-up. Looks like even those short-listed get profiled. Will definitely think about entering this one, especially as I love trees and a tree gets planted for every entry also.
I really must enter one of these competitions one day. You kind prompts keep making me think about it, but I keep getting swept up in other things to do. It will happen soon I hope
There’s always something to do, isn’t there. I always have good intensions to do challenges etc and life gets in the way.
