My Weekly Writing Challenge

My challenge  for you this week is to write a ten-word story using at least six words from the list given, or you can write a story/poem from the second list:

Option one: Choose at least six words from the following list and write a ten-word story:

  • Xylopolist
  • Train
  • Ulotrichous
  • Sweets
  • Feline
  • Ecophobia
  • Liverpool
  • Furious
  • Argute
  • Trampoline

Option two: Write a story/poem, centred around any of the following emotions :

  • Bitterness
  • Bravery
  • Boredom

Last week’s ten words were as follows:

  • Jettatura
  • Mourinho
  • Caravan
  • Acersecomic
  • Fanfaronade
  • Gambol
  • Leptosome
  • Demure
  • Furtive
  • Palimpsest

As always, there were some brilliant entries:

Marjorie Mallon was first to rise to the challenge:

The Palimpsest a furtive jettatura, a leptosome caravan of Fanfaronade.

She even provided a translation: The reused or altered document, a furtive, casting of an evil eye caravan of boasting talk!!

Fiona Trowbridge’s is hilarious:

A demure, furtive, acersecomic leptosome presented Mourinho with a palimpsest.

Helen Gaen doesn’t ever disappoint:

The furtive acersecomic leptosome avoided the fanfaronade of Mourinho’s caravan.

David Harrison delights with two stories:

“Gambol faster you furtive leptosomes!” snarled Mourinho. Fanfaronade? No jettatura!
Chelsea’s acersecomics were too furtive and demure. Mourinho’s caravan awaited.
Les Moriarty brings the ten-word stories to a close with a smile:
Mourhino’s leptosome allowed his gambol around the acersecomic caravan owner.
The palimpsest of furtive Dave’s acersecomic encouraged the children’s caravan gambol.
Last week’s themes were:
  • Enchanted
  • Envy
  • Ecstasy
Adhin Shamina sent in a story centred around envy. Do visit her site for a read:
Geoff Le Pard used envy as one of his prompts for his brilliant Nanthology. You can read his story :

  2. Hi Esther! I wrote one but I guess the pingback didn’t work! Should I post it here in the comments from now on? 🙂

    1. Oh no! That’s a shame. It seems to have worked before so I’m not sure what happened there. If you wouldn’t mind popping it in the comments box just in case that would be great 🙂
