My Weekly Writing Challenge

There I was, last week, thinking that I’d made things difficult for you by asking for a ten-word story using the words ‘potato’ and ‘Friday’ somewhere in the story. I wasn’t sure if I’d have many challengers at all. Boy, was I proved wrong! Read the fantastic results below.

Right then, time to get tough. This week’s challenge is for a ten-word story, using the words ‘Easter’, ‘bucket’ and ‘cat’. Let’s see what you’ve got!

Don’t forget to enter my new flash fiction competition with cash prizes! For more details click on: https://esthernewtonblog.wordpress.com/flash-fiction-competition/

Now, here are last week’s gems:

Sacha Black was the first to show me how easy it was:

Friday fish and chips do not count as healthy potatoes.

Keith Channing was quickly in there too:

“The potato man came today.”

“Why?”

“Because it’s flippin’ Friday!”

Jason Moody sent in some belters:

1)

The potato sat. It was Friday. Three days to roast.

2)

“Monday. Tuesday. Wednesday. Thursday. Friday? Crap. I need potato peeler.”

3)

“It’s Friday 13th.”

“And?”

“You forgetting last year’s potato debacle?”

Now Geoff Le Pard is just showing off with these two:

1)

Man Friday dipped the potato in cheese: I’ve invented crisps!

2)
Mr Potato Head loved Fridays; until they became fry days.

Maria Wilhelmmson entertains with this one:

“Thank god it’s Friday!”

“Why?”

“Potato delivery by gorgeous John…”

Linda Sage sent in her first challenge. Welcome Linda! And very clever it is too:

“Look,” said Robinson Crusoe to Friday, “this is a potato.”

Jasdeep Kaur enjoyed all the other stories and felt inspired to send in her own:

“Serra!”

“Who?”

“Brian…couch potato.”

“Reduced? Looking fab.”

“Coffee?”

“Friday’s.”

Jane Basil is another taking up the challenge for the first time and her entries are simply brilliant:

1)

Caviar and champagne on Friday.

Saturday to Thursday; potato soup.

2)

I work Monday to Friday.

Weekends?

I’m a couch potato.

3)

One potato to last until Friday, but we have rice.

    “My cat loves Easter.”
    “Mine too!”
    “Playing with buckets, right?”

The Easter bunny put a bucket over the cat.
    “Mjaaooouuuuuu!”

The cat found the bunny’s Easter hideout.
    Under the bucket.
