Top Tip Of The Week

Have Fun With Your Writing!

As writers, it’s so easy to get caught up in meeting deadlines, getting over writers’ block, trying to earn a living etc. so it’s no wonder we forget to enjoy writing. And enjoyment is exactly why we started writing in the first place.

So forget the novel/short story/article you’re working on and have some fun with your writing. You don’t have to send it out anywhere – just simply enjoy the writing! Here’s my offering:

Learning to Read

My old teacher, Mrs Flynn didn’t half go into a rage,

When I was reading to her in class and turned the page,

Her nose narrowed, her eyes grew gigantic and her lips all tight,

And her false teeth clacked as she chomped down on her cheek with all her might.

With flushed face, she said, “Billy Smith, how dare you say that dreadful word?

This is a lovely story about a sweet little bird.”

So I said to her, “It wasn’t my fault, Mrs Flynn, you see,

I try so hard, but those b’s and t’s all look to the same to me.”

Crazy busy with work at the office, and trying to figure out how to allocate my free time for writing. I have many ideas, yet the minutes seem to conspire against me! 😀 I’m sure that’s a familiar lament among writers. Have a lovely week, Esther.
