I’ve been working for The Writers Bureau for sixteen years now and I’ve loved every minute of it. It was where I started out myself as a student many years ago and I have them to thank for becoming a published writer.
When the director asked me if I’d like to write some new courses for them, I jumped at the chance. Here are the details:
Re-discover your love of writing
This course is for writers who might be suffering from writer’s block, or who have lost their enthusiasm for writing. It may be that life has simply got in the way. So it’s all about helping you to get back into writing and to fall in love with it again. For further details click here.
Flash fiction is a very popular form of creative writing. It’s everywhere! You’ll find it in literary, small press and online publications as well as some mainstream magazines. Plus, there are lots of flash fiction competitions to be found advertised in writing magazines and online. It’s great fun to write though no less challenging than longer stories.
In this three-module, online course you cover what flash fiction is, how to write it well and where you can submit it. Examples, writing exercises and two marked assignments form part of the course. For further details, click here.
Pitching your book to publishers and agents
If you’ve written a book and are looking to send it off to publishers and agents, this course will help you prepare your synopsis and cover letter. It’s so important to get both aspects right to hook their attention. There are writing exercises to work through, followed by two assignments where you’ll have the opportunity to have your synopsis and cover letter assessed. Click here for more details.
An introduction to writing romance
Do you enjoy reading romance stories in the women’s weeklies? Or maybe you love being swept up in Jane Austen, Cecilia Ahern, Nicholas Sparks or Milly Johnson novels. You may have thought about writing your own romance tale, but don’t know where to start. This three-module short course will give you the foundations on which you can build. It covers romance writing techniques suitable for use with both short stories and novels alike. To find out more, click here
