As many of you will know, I have run some short story competitions in the past. The last two were flash fiction competitions of 250 words, with an open theme. I’m thinking of running another, but I’d like your input. What would get you thinking and itching to enter? Here are some ideas I’ve had:

A lot of you enjoy writing flash fiction. Here’s an excellent competition for you. The Fish Flash Fiction Prize 2016 is currently accepting entries of up to 300 words. Prizes: 1st: €1,000 2nd: online writing course with Fish The closing date is 28th February 2016. Ten stories will be published in the 2016 Fish Anthology.

If you’re looking for a short story and/or poetry competition, which offers decent prize money, you might like to take a look at the Magic Oxygen Literary Prize. Unpublished stories of up to 4000 words and unpublished poems of up to 40 lines are accepted. There is no set theme. Prizes awarded for each category
