Many of you may know blogger Cee Tee Jackson. But have you read his books? If not, why not?! I’ve just finished his very entertaining tales of growing up in the 60s and 70s.
Here’s the blurb:
Do you remember the excitement of classroom lessons being delivered in the school playground on hot, sunny days?
What about that day you almost passed out with embarrassment after making yourself look foolish in front of the class?
Do you recall the days when you’d read your favourite comic on the living-room floor while you waited for the family television to ‘warm up?’
Or the times you were dragged away on some tortuous family holiday?
What about plucking up courage to ask the girl or boy you fancied for a dance ?
Relive these and many more such innocent memories in ‘A SPACE HOPPER KILLED MY HAMSTER … amusing tales of growing up in the ’60s & ’70s’
Comprising forty-five anecdotes, arranged into bite-sized chapters and written in a fresh, witty and light-hearted manner, it’s a fun and evocative read, reflecting the childhood games and experiences across the UK.
From spam to glam; from hair to flares, ‘A SPACE HOPPER KILLED MY HAMSTER …’ is about how we lived, what we loved, what we learned and what made us laugh in the 1960s and 1970s.
Be you a child of The Sixties, The Seventies, or simply a reader curious of that time; whether your childhood was spent in Scotland, the wider UK or the western world in general, ‘A SPACE HOPPER KILLED MY HAMSTER …’ will be sure to brighten your day.
My review
I grew up in the 70s and 80s, but I connected with many of these amusing and thoroughly enjoyable anecdotes, from cut-out dolls in comics, to games, to the playground slide, to fashion, to badges. And the chapter ‘Top Ten Smells of the 60s and 70s’ is simply hilarious, especially the milk monitor and Brut 33 – smells I’d long forgotten.
Cee Tee’s book is a joy to read from beginning to end – it’s written in a delightfully chatty style and makes you smile from start to finish.
