Please welcome Carol Anne to my blog this week. Many of you already know her from her insightful blog posts and beautifully-written poems. I’ll hand over to Carol Anne:
Here is a sonnet I wrote about living and coping with anxiety.
When shadows rise before the break of day,
And restless winds unsettle thoughts once still,
I greet the dawn with breath both tight and fray’d,
A heart that drums against its own free will.
Yet in this weight, I learn a steady grace,
To sit with storms that tremble in my chest—
Though fear may carve deep lines upon my face,
I do not shrink, nor flee at its behest.
For every trembling hour I endure,
There blooms a strength I never thought I’d find.
Though anxious thoughts may whisper, harsh, unsure,
I walk with them, not leave them far behind.
So let them come—I know now how to stand:
With trembling soul, but courage close at hand.
