I hope you’ve all had a good week. It’s now time to introduce this week’s guest writer. It’s the very talented Nancy Blodgett Klein. This is the first time she’s been a guest on my blog and I’m sure you’ll join me in giving her a warm welcome. Nancy has lots of writing experience and today she’s sharing a poem from her latest book, Poetry for Troubled Times, available from Amazon.
Dusk Rendezvous
Crunching down on leaves and acorns
Walking in the woods nearby
A sparrow sings
From the branches of an oak tree
As I wander past
Over the creaky wooden bridge
The creek it covered is gone now
Too little rain to sustain it
Two squirrels chase each other
Up a tree, with only their bushy tails visible
I arrive before a large tree stump
Where my friend waits for me
A skinny black cat
Missing one eye
And half a tail
I sit beside him
Pet him gently
Give him attention
He purrs loudly
Showing appreciation
For my affection
We share this moment of
Peace and joy
Every day
At dusk

Here’s a little bit about Nancy:
I have published five books. The first was a novel titled Torn Between Worlds: A Mexican Immigrant’s Journey to Find Herself. It has been well reviewed by many people on Amazon and Goodreads. The other three books are: Life Lessons: Guidance for All Ages, What’s So Special About Spain? and Building a Top-Notch Family Tree and Stories from Its Branches. The fifth book is poetry, as I noted above.
I was a journalist and magazine editor in the Chicagoland area for many years. I published hundreds of magazine articles, including for the American Bar Association Journal. Later on, I was a public school teacher, including eight years teaching mostly Mexican bilingual students. I have masters’ degrees in both journalism and education.

If you’d like to be included in my guest writer slot, please get in touch: estherchilton@gmail.com. Poems can be up to 60 lines and prose 2000 words. If you’d like to add a short bio and photo, then great.
