Another Unusual Custom Or Two

I’ve recently been blogging about unusual laws and customs I’ve come across. Here are a few more:

  • It’s said that in Medieveal Japan when men wanted to seal an agreement, they urinated together, their streams of urine crisscrossing. I’d rather stick to a simple handshake, thank you very much.
  • During the 16th and 17th centuries, if you were found drinking coffee, you would be put to death. I’d have been okay – I’m a tea drinker.
  • In Roman times, if you were born with a hooked nose, it was considered a sign of leadership. It’s good to know that it’s all down to the nose, rather than the brain…
