Laughing Along With A Limerick

On Friday, for a bit of fun to cheer us up, I invited you to write an amusing limerick and you did just that. They all made me smile. I hope they make your Monday morning that little bit brighter.

Hugh Roberts:

There was a young actress called Sheila
Who drove her friends mad with her new feature
A strange ring through her nose
As big as her big toes
Made her look like an outa space creature.

Ritu:

There was a young man from Baghdad
Whose singing drove everyone mad
With no dulcet tones
Just screeching and moans
Yet, still he thought he weren’t bad!

Christine Mallaband-Brown

Kitten is one of our cats
He likes beans on toast and bats
He wears lots of mittens
And a scarf with blue knit ons
And runs around in a red hat!

Sanandi-Jacq:

There was a young woman called Jacqui
Who everyone thought was quite wacky.
She danced the Five Rhythms
Through psychedelic prisms
In costumes considered so tacky.

Paul Mastaglio:

There was once a girl called Lill

Who often didn’t pay her bill,

She was getting a bad name

For this unfortunate game,

All in all, her reputation was going downhill.

      1. There was a young man from limerick,
Who wanted to play on his guitar, quick
        He wanted to rhyme
        And keep in good time,
But his mom turned the light out with the dimmer switch!

  2. A good idea…A bit late, but here’s one by my husband:

    Frozen Revenge
A lady whose name was Theresa
shut her old man in the freezer…
    By playing the field
    he got himself killed
and he’s now with the sprouts and the pizza,

    Best wishes

  3. I asked Alexa for a limerick. Here’s what she gave me:

There was a young man from Peru
Whose limericks stopped at line two.

  4. The Reverend Algernon Sproggs
    Secretly collects ladies clogs.
His mum used to say its better today.
When he was a boy he collected newts and
    large frogs

There was a lady from St Kits
Who was blessed with very large ears
She said, I know that my dears,
    Large ears
    Doesn’t rhyme with St Kits

  6. I missed it! Oh well, I can still write you a limerick or two. Or three 😉

In the days of virus people are blue
So I wrote a little limerick for you
    I hoped it’d be swell
But it didn’t come out so well
But it is a verse brand new

My last limerick was so bad
It is just making me awfully sad
    I tried to bring cheer
But I only heard a jeer
So now I feel I’m a terrible cad

    Those rhymes above weren’t serious
Sure, I wished they were hilarious
    But they were quickly done
    For a bit of fun
And I wrote them fast and furious

    I hope you enjoyed 🙂

      1. Thanks. It does make a good weekly post, like your “Can you tell a story in…?” posts. Of course with these limericks, they only make sense as a series 😉

    arrogant people and borrowers
    Upon them a blight
    Caused such keen insight
    Instead, they improved our tomorrows.
