Markets For Writers

The Writers Bureau Short Story Competition 2019 is now open for entries. Details are as follows:

Prizes:

1st: £300

2nd: £200

3rd: £100

4th: £50

Plus all winners receive a Writers Bureau course of their choice (worth over £374).

Entry fee: £5 (£4 to members of the The Association of Freelance Writers)

Word limit: 2000 words

Closing date: 31st March 2019

  2. I am never sure about competitions. It is often difficult to get paid for your output, a competition seems more of a game of chance than anything else.

    1. I have done well in competitions in the past, but they’re very subjective.

      1. There is a lady in our writing group who has done very well with competitions, I think her top prize was a car. Her forte is short pieces limericks and slogans.
