I still can’t believe that it’s a week until Christmas Eve! Where is the time going?!
I’m sure, like me, your head is full of Christmas this and Christmas that. So surely now’s the time to write about Christmas? Yes – and no. If you want to write an article about how to make presents out of recycled materials, or a story about an abandoned dog who finds a new home at Chrismas, great, but you’ll have to hold on to it for next year.
If you take a look at the magazines in the shops, you’ll see that many of them are January issues, so already Christmas is behind them and the New Year is the focus. Magazines are always working ahead – weeks, sometimes months. So seasonal articles and stories need to be sent off in plenty of time for them to be considered before the season itself.
